O Ruane or O Rowen - Irish / Ua Ruadhain. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Ui Maine Sept / Family branch,  who had their territory in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht. O Royan was also used as a variant with Gortyroyan / Gort Ui Ruadhain being near Ballinsloe. Royan also sometimes changed to O Ryan especially in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province along with O Rouine and O Ruane, which see. Ruddle or Ruddell. Known as Ruddle they were in Co. Limerick and Co. Kerry in the west of the Munster Province. Known as Ruddell in Co. Armagh in the south - east of the Ulster Province. They were in Leinster Province in the 13th Century AD and it may originate from Riddell / de Ryedale originally. In Co. Limerick Ruddle was sometimes also used as a synonym for Ruttle, which see.
