O Rehill, O Reehill and O Rahill were also used as variants in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster and nearby in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster. No connection with Ryle in Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province although etymologically the same.

O Reilly. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory and were Chiefs in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster and were also nearby in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster.

O Reilly or O Rahilly or O Riley or O Rely - Irish / Ua Raghallaigh / Ua Rahaille / valiant  etc. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in their kingdom of Breifne, which included the Families of the O Rourkes, O Reillys, O Bradys and their Septs.They were Kings and Princes of Breifne and Cath Aeda Finn and also the Chiefs of Muinntear Raghallaigh (East Breifne) and Princes in their territory in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster and were also nearby in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster. They were descended from *87.Brion the King of Connacht (Ui Briuin) who was a half - brother to 87.Niall of the Nine Hostages the 126th King of Tara / Ireland (Ui Niaill) in the 4th Century AD and both were descended from *80.Conn of the Hundred Battles the 110th King of Tara / Ireland (Dal Cuinn) in the 2nd Century AD  descended from *37.Heremon (Heremonians) one of the 3 surviving Milesian Gaelic brothers who had arrived into Eire in 1699 BC. The O Reillys shared the kingdom of Breifne with their kinsmen the O Rourkes - Irish / Ui Ruairc and their territory was on Loch Oughter where they had their fort at East Breifne and their Ross Castle was at Mount Nugent in Co. Cavan. They were the original Gaelic Tuath at Tully Mongan Hill and had the Castle of Tongragee in the Barony of Clan Kee and were also at Cootehill in Co. Cavan. Under the constant English ethnic, religious and military oppression they lasted as a Gaelic Milesian Family until the 17th Century AD. Many of the Septs of West Breifne / Co. Leitrim held out against the English onslaught but the O Reillys being in East Breifne / Co. Cavan on the eastern side of Ireland were subjugated completely in the late 16th Century AD. Co. Cavan was then deemed by the English to be part of the Ulster Province and it was included in the Confiscation of the 3,500,000 acres of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill territories and the Foreign non - Catholic Plantations of Ulster from 1608 AD onwards. English and Scottish non - Catholics were brought in and the Irish Septs were driven out above the 600' level to starve to death. In 1611 AD at Clon Kee in Co. Cavan 64,377 acres of the land of the Ui Briuin Breifne O Reillys, which was just on two thirds of the total Irish land there was given over to the non - Catholic Planters with some of them receiving up to 5000 acres each. Afterwards many members of the O Reilly Tuath / Family region went off to France to continue to fight against the English ethnic and religious oppression of all things Irish. Ancestors - *87.Brion the King of Connacht (Ui Briuin), *88.Daui “Tenga Uma” / of the Sweet Tongue the 3rd King of Connacht who is also the ancestor of the Ui Briuin Seola Sept, *89.Eogan “Srem” (Ui Briuin Breifne / Ui Briuin Ai), *90.Fergus (Ui Briuin Breifne), which was to also culminate in the O Rourkes.  From this time on the O Reilly / O Rahillys were in the direct firing line as the English established "The English Pale" around Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster and pushed out from there having their best bloody successes northwards up into the Ulster Province along the east - coast of Ireland creating massive bloodbaths wherever they went. O Reiny. Used as a variant for O Reaney, which see - Irish / Ua Raighne, who were in the west of Co.
