Pilkington. English toponymic origins.  They were originally in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster in the 15th Century AD. During the Oliver Cromwell Invasion they were in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster and Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster. In the 19th Century AD they were in Co. Clare in the north - west of Munster Province.

Pillion. Unknown origins as yet. They were initially in Co. Cork in Southern Munster and then in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster.

Pim. English Quaker origins. They have been in Co. Laois in the north - west of Southern Leinster and Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster since the Mid - 17th Century AD.

Piper. English occupational origins. Also used as a synonym for - Peppard, which see. Also see - Pyper.

Piphoe or Phypoe. They were in Ireland in Medieval Times.

Plant. Dual English origins. They came from East Anglia in the 17th Century AD and were in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster and also in Co. Wicklow in the south - east of Southern Leinster.

Plover / pilibin / little plover. Used by the - Mac Philbins, which see.

Plummer. English occupational origins (Plumber or Plumer of feathers), which were used as variants. They came from Wiltshire into Co. Cork in Southern Munster in the 17th Century AD and were later in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province.

Plunkett or Plunket / Pluingceud. French Anglo Norman origins. They came with the Anglo - Norman Invasion in the late 12th Century AD. English appointed Earls in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster and English Barons in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster. They were also nearby in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster and Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster.

Pockrich. English locative origins. They came from Puckridge and were in Co. Monaghan in Southern Ulster in the Mid - 17th Century AD after the Confiscation of the 3,500,000 acres of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill territories and the Foreign non - Catholic Plantations there.

Poe. English origins. Came into Ireland with the Oliver Cromwell Invasion and were then in Co. Tipperary  in the north - east of the Munster Province and nearby in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster and were in Co. Tyrone in Central Southern Ulster in the early 17th Century AD after the Confiscation of the 3,500,000 acres of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill territories and the Foreign non - Catholic Plantations there.

Le Poer /  le pouvre or - *Power, which see.- Norman origins. Either from - poor one or Pois in Picardy in France, which they eventually anglicized to Power. Some also Gaelicized as Mheic Shere. Originally they were in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster and nearby in *Co. Waterford in the south - east of the Munster Province where they had Dunhill Castle 5 mile west of Tramore, and where they were English Lords and also where their fortress was built in the 17th Century AD. Henry de la Poer was to be the 3rd English Marquise of Waterford who was born in 1811 AD. Their Estate was at Curraghmore in Co. Waterford where they controlled the eastern half of that County and continued to hold large Estates up until the 19th Century AD. They were also in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province.

Pogue or Poak or Poke. Used as synonyms for - Pollock, which see,  who were in Co. Antrim in the north - east of the Ulster Province in the 17th Century AD after the Confiscation of the 3,500,000 acres of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill territories and the Foreign non - Catholic Plantations there.

Polan or Poland. They were in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster. Also see - Mac Polin.

Mac Polin / Pol / Paul / Mheic Poilin. They were in Co. Armagh and nearby in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province. Some known there also as - Poland.

Pollard / close cropped head - or a derivative of Paul. English origins. They were at Castlepollard in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster in the 14th Century AD.

Ponsonby. English origins. They were in Ireland in the 17th Century AD with Land Lord Estates in Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province and Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster where they were the English appointed Earls of Bessborough.

Porter. English origins.  They were in all Provinces except the Connacht Province from the 13th Century AD on and are now found in the Ulster Province.

Potter / Le Poter. They were in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster in the 13th Century AD and are now widespread.
