O Lydon or O Leyden or O Liddane - Irish / Ua Loideain. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht and nearby in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. Leyden used also in Connacht and nearby in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province. O Liddane used in Co. Clare also.

O Lyhane. Used as a variant for O Lehane, which see, in Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster  Province and in the west of Co. Cork in Southern Munster.

O Lyle - Irish / Ua Laoighill - 

Lyle / de Lisle. Used as a variant for Lisle. French origins. They came into Ireland from south - west of Scotland in the 17th Century AD. Now in Co. Antrim and nearby in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province.

Lyle / Lisle. French Huguenot origins. They were in Co. Antrim in the north - east of the Ulster Province in the 18th Century AD.

Lynagh or Leynagh -  Irish / Laighneach (Descended from the Leinsterman) They were initially in Co. Galway and nearby in Co. Mayo in the south - west of the Connacht Province. Also used as a synonym for Lynam, which see and vice versa.

Lynagh. English origins. They were in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster and Co. Kildare in Central Southern Leinster where they were a branch of the Berminghams, which see.  

O Lynan or O Lynham or Lynam - Irish / Ua Laigheanain. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the east of the Leinster Province. One of their kinsmen Septs were Erenaghs at Ferns, another was in Co. Carlow in Southern Leinster and others were later on in the north of Leinster.

 Lyneham. English toponymic origins. They were in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster in the 14th Century AD.

Limerick in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster and nearby in Co. Tipperary in Ormond / Aur Mhumhan / Eastern Munster and in the west of Co. Cork in Desmond / Southern Munster. Ancestor - *91.Cas (Dal gCais) the King of Thomond.

Lynch or Linch / de Lench. Anglo Norman origins. They were in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster then a branch of the Family went to Co. Galway in Southern Connacht where they became one of the "14 Foreign Tribes of Galway."

O and Mac Lynchehan - Irish / Ua and Mheic Loingseachain - loingseach / sea mariner. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Donegal and nearby in Co. Tyrone in the west of the Ulster Province.  Now mostly known as Lynch, which see.

Mac Lynchy. Used as a variant for Mac Glinchy, which see, in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province.

Lyness. English origins.  They came from the north and were in Co. Armagh in the south - east of the Ulster Province in the 17th Century AD and are now in Co. Antrim and nearby in Co. Down in the east of Ulster after the Confiscation of the 3,5000,00 acres of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn territories there and the non - Catholic Plantations there.

Mac Lyness. Used as a synonym for Mac Aleenan, which see.

O Lynn - Irish / Ua Fhloinn. The most important Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla Uais Ui Mheic Uais Ui Tuitre Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the west of Loch Neagh in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster to the Irish Sea in the south of Co. Antrim in the north - east of the Ulster Province and north - west of the loch at Loughinsholin in Co. Derry where they were Chiefs and Kings. Especially see - O Flynn.
