Kildare, Co. Laois and Co. Wicklow in Southern Leinster. Co. Galway and Co. Roscommon in the south of the Connacht Province, Chiefs in Co. Down, Co. Derry and Co. Tyrone in the Ulster Province.

Their territory there was originally under the control of his grandfather, 84.Fiacha / Fiachu "Sraibhtine" the 120th King of Tara / Ireland in 285 AD, and took in the east of Co. Galway and the south of Co. Roscommon in Southern Connacht, and nearby in the north of Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province, and part of Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster. (*86Maine "Mor" added to this territory in 357 AD.) His descendant *Kelly / Ceallach was to die in 874 AD as the 12th Chief of the Ui Maine Tuath / Family region, and his great - great - grandson took his surname from him. His name was *Teague / Tadhg "Mor" O Kelly who was killed in the Battle of Clontarf near Dublin in 1014 AD against the Vikings, while supporting 105.Brian "Boru" the Heberian Dalcassian 170th High King of Ireland. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster, where they were part of the Laeghis Tuath / Family region, as one of "7 Septs of  Co. Laois" who co - existed still, along with the O Deevy, O Doran, O Dowling, Mac Evoy, O Lalor and O Mores, after the Anglo - Norman Invasion in the 12th Century AD. Their alliance had begun after the 3rd Century AD when the ancestor of the Gaelic Milesian Irian O Mores came into Co. Laois from the Ulster Province led by *69.Lysagh / Laoighseach / Loichsi "Cean Mor," a son of 68.Conall "Cearnach" - of the Victories, the legendary leader of the Red Branch Knights of Ulster who was descended from 37.Ir. They were descended initially from *90.Maine "Mal" the ancestor of the Ui Mail and Ui Theig Septs, who was a younger brother of 90.Cahir / Cathair "Mor" - the Greater" the 109th King of Tara / Ireland in the 2nd Century AD. *90.Main "Mal's" descendant, *101.Kelly / Ceallach "Cualann" had his Ui Mail Tuath / Family region in the north - west of Co. Wicklow in the south - east of Southern Leinster to the south of Tallag and to the northern slopes of Glenasmole taking in Killininny, Ballycullen and Kilmacheth. Mac Kelvy - Irish / Mheic Giolla Bhuidhe - giolla / lad - buidhe / yellow hair. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province. Variants were Mac Elwee, Mac Calvey, Mac Gilloway, Mac Gilvie, Mac Kilvey etc, and it was also changed to Mac Kilboy in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province.

Mac Kemmin. Used as a variant for Mac Kimmon, which see and also see Kimmons.

Kemmis. English origins. They came from Monmouthshire and have been in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster since the late 17^th Century AD.
