Mac Guff or Mac Giff or Mac Giffie - Irish / Mheic Dhuibh - dubh / black. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the north of the Connacht Province.

Mac Guffin. Used as a variant for Mac Giffen, which see.

Mac Guidera or Mac Guider - Irish / Mheic Giodaire. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province.

Guidera or Guider - originally Gidery - Origins unknown as yet. They were in the north of Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province in the Mid - 17th Century AD. Mac Gidery / Mheic Giodaire used also in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province.

Mac Guigan - Irish / Mag Uiginn. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster. Variants are Mac Googan, Mac Gookin, Mac Guckian, Mac Quiggan, Mac Wiggin, Wigan, Maguigan, Fidgeon. Pidgeon. Mheic Guagain used nearby in Co. Monaghan in Southern Ulster. O Guihan or O Guiheen or O Guihen or O Geehan - Irish / Ui Gaoithin - gaoth / wind. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Roscommon in the east of the Connacht Province. See the next entry who may be either their kinsmen or a separate Sept altogether. See also O Gahan.

Mac Guinevan - Irish / Mheic Dhuinneabhain / Mac Donovan, or a synonym for O Canavan in Co. Waterford in the south - east of the Munster Province?

O Guiney - Irish / Ua Guinidhe. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Kerry and Co. Cork in Desmond / Des Mhumhain / Southern Munster. See also O Guinee and O Geaney.

Mac Guiney. Used as a variant for Mac Geaney, which see, in Co. Cavan in the south of the Ulster Province.

Mac Guinn. Used as a variant for Mac Quinnin, which see, in the north of the Connacht Province.

Mac Guinness or Mac Genis or Magennis - Irish / Mheic Aonghusa / Mag Aonghuis / Mheic Oengussa. An aristocratic Irian Dal nAraidi Sept / Family branch of the Clan - na - Rory Tuath / Family region who were descended directly from a son of *Angus / Aon - one / gus - choice. They had their territory originally in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province where they were the Chiefs of Iveagh based initially on a tribe of Scythian Cruithin Celts in Ulster. The Irian aristocratic Clan - na - Rory were descended from 62.Rory "Mor" the 86th Irian King of Tara / Erinn in 218 BC. The son of his fifth son was *64.Fergus "Mor," and in turn his sixth son was the ancestor of the famous Ulster warrior, *68.Conall "Cearnach"- of the Victories who is the ancestor of the O Moores, Mac Guinness, Mac Gowans and many other important Families in Ulster, Connacht Province and in the west of the Leinster Province. Their name was also anglicized as Mac Neice and Mac Creesh. Their particular Sept began at Iveagh in Co. Down from where they drove out the O Haugheys in the 12th Century AD and ruled there until the 17th Century AD at Rathfriland. By the 16th Century AD they had become non - Catholic to hold onto their territory there, but later fought on the Irish side and lost their territory anyway. Benjamin Mac Guinness of Brewery fame was descended from a Family branch who became non - Catholic and rebuilt St. Patrick’s Church in Dublin. Ancestors - *62.Rory "Mor" the 86th King of Tara / Erinn, *37.Ir (Irians).

Mac Guire or Maguire - Irish / Mag Uidhir - odhar / uidhir / dun colored who were descended from *104.Orgiall / Oriel a son of *103.Uidhir / Odhar - of the Brown Hair. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla da Crioch Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the kingdom of Orghialla / Airghialla / Oriel in Southern Ulster and nearby in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster. Later they set up at Lisnaskea / Lios na Sceithe (The Ring Fort of the Shield) on the east bank of Upper Loch Erne in Co. Fermanagh in the south - west of Ulster Province where they were Chiefs and Princes. On the outskirts of the town there is their "moat" the Inauguration Place of the Mag Uidhir Septs. Around 1302 AD because of the inability of the English to penetrate further into Ulster they held total sway in Co. Fermanagh under *108.Donn "Mor" Maguire and ruled there for the next 300 years. 15 of their Chieftains were Inaugurated until 1600 AD when they controlled the whole of the Fermanagh region. In the 17th Century AD all of their territory there was Confiscated by the English for non - Catholic Plantations by the English, but they still retained their Chief.
