Granfield or Granville or Grandfield  / de Granville. Norman origins. Granfield has been more numerous in Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province since the late 16th Century AD.

Grange -

Mac Grann. Used as a variant for Mac Grane, which see. Not connected to Mac Cran.

Mac Grannell - Irish /  Mag Raghnaill.An Irian Conmaicne Magh Rein Muinter Eoluis / Eolais Sept / Family branch who were Chiefs and Kings who had their original territory at Mohill and Leitrim in Co. Leitrim in Northern Connacht. Especially see - Mac Rannall. Used as a variant for Mac Rannall in Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster. See also - Graney.

Mac Grannon - Irish / Mag Raghnainn. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. Cognate with Mac Rannall or Reynolds.

Grant. Scottish origins. They were in all Provinces except Connacht Province. Occasionally used as a synonym for Granny, which see. They were in the Munster Province before the end of the 16th Century AD. Known as le Graunte in Medieval Times especially in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster.

Mac Grath or Magrath or Mac Graw or Magra or Mac Gragh - Irish / Mheic Raith / Mag Craith. A Co - Arb Sept / Family branch, who had their territory originally in the north west of Co. Donegal and nearby in Co. Fermanagh in the west of the Ulster Province at the border area at Termon Mac Grath. They were driven out of there to Ardstraw in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster by the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill O Donnells. Often changed to Mac Graw in Co. Down in the south - east of Ulster and Mac Gragh in Co. Donegal in the north - west of Ulster.

Mac Grath or Mac Raith - Irish / Mheic Craith / Mag Craith. A Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Clann Craith Ollamh Sept / Family branch who were descended directly either from *105,Duncan / Donncuan or his brother *105.Eachtighern / Lord of the Horses. They were hereditary Ollamhs / poets to their kinsmen the O Brians / O Briens / Ui mBriain and they had their territory in Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster. One of their Septs also went nearby into Co. Waterford in the south - east of Munster Province. *105.Eachtighern is the ancestor of the Muintir Eachthigheirn and Clann Craith, which includes the Ahernes / Ui hEachthigheirn, O Hearne, which is a further anglicized variant for Aherne, as is O Heron and O Hearon a variant of that, along with the Mac Craith / Mac Grath / Magrath. The O Aherne Sept originally the Ui hAgerin migrated from the east of Co. Clare also to Co. Cork in Desmond / Des Mhumhain / Southern Munster. *105.Eachtighern and his brother, 105.Duncan / Donncuan were killed in battle, as was their father, *104.Kennedy / Ceaneidigh then the Dalcassian King of Thomond in the 10th Century AD. One of his sons, 105. Mahon then became the King of Thomond and the O Aherne Chief who was to be the 1st Dal gCais 38th King of Munster who was a brother to *105.Eachtighern and *105.Duncan / Donncuan and he may have taken over the responsibility for his deceased brothers' Families as the Mac Raith Sept is also credited to him. Another brother, 105.Brian "Boru" - of the Tributes later on was also to be the King of Thomond, 41st King of Munster and the 171st High King of Ireland. His other deceased brother 105.Donncuan became the ancestor of the Kennedys of Ormond / Aur Mhumhain / Eastern Munster whose descendants were forced out of Co, Tipperary by the invading Anglo - Normans into Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster becoming the ancestors of John F.,  Robert and Edward in America. Ancestors - *105.Aherne / Echthigern, *105.Duncan / Donncuan, *106.Flonn, *107.Rath or / *105.Eachtighern, *104.Kennedy / Ceaneidigh, *103.Lorcan, *102.Lachtna. *101.Corc, *100.Anluan, *99.Mahon, *98.Turlough (Ui Turlough), *97.Cathal, *96.Aodh "Caomh" the King of Munster, *95.Conall, *94.Eochy / Eochaidh "Baill Dearg," *93.Cairthenn "Fionn  Oge Mor," *92.Blood / Blod (Ui Bloid), *91.Cas (Dal gCais) the King of Thomond.

Mac Grattan - Irish / Mag Reachtain. A Gaelic variant for Grattan, which see, used in the Ulster Province.

Gratton. English name. May have been used by some Irish families to anglicize as Grattan. They were in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province and Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster in the 17th Century AD.

Graves or Grieve. Previously Greves / steward / farm bailiff. English origins. They were in Ireland in the 14th Century AD in Co. Cork in Southern Munster and later in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster and Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster and at Dublin University in the 17th Century AD known then as Grieve. See also Greeves in the Ulster Province.

Gray - Irish. See - Culreavy in the Connacht Province and nearby in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster.
