O Gormoge - A Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province where they were Chiefs.

Gorravan - See Gorevan.

O Gorry or Gorey or Gurry - Irish - Ua Guaire - noble. A Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in Northern Leinster.

Mac Gorry - Irish - Mheic Gothraidh. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Sept - Family branch of the Ui Briuin O Reillys, which see, who had their territory in Co. Cavan & Co. Tyrone in Southern Ulster. For derivation see Gohery. Ancestor *87.Brion.

Mac Gorty - See Mac Gourkey.

Goslin - See Gosnell.

Gosnell - They were in the west of Co. Cork in Southern Munster in the 18th Century AD. Some changed to Gosling, which see.

Gossan - See Gaussen.

Gough - Goch - Originally Coch - red - Welsh origins. They came in the 13th Century AD and settled in Co. Waterford in the south - east of the Munster Province and in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster. They became identified with the Irish National cause especially in the 17th Century AD. Occasionally also used as a synonym for Mac Geough, which see.

Gould or Goold - gul - gold - Danish English origins. They were in Co. Cork in Southern Munster in Medieval Times.

Gourdon -

Mac Gourkey or Mac Gourtey - Irish - Mheic Dhorchaidh - dorca - dark. A Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in Co. Leitrim in Northern Connacht. Anglicized to Darcy in Co. Fermanagh in the south - west of the Ulster Province.

Mac Gourley - Irish - Mheic Thoirdealbhaigh. Used as a variant for Mac Turley, which see, in Co. Tyrone & Co. Antrim in the Ulster Province.

Mac Gourty -

Mac Govern or Mac Goveran or Magauran or Mac Gowran - Irish - Mag Shamhradhain - Samradh - Summer. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Sept - Family branch from the Ui Briuin kingdom of Breifne where they had their territory at Tullyhaw - Teallach Eochaidh in the north west of Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster where is Ballymagauran in the center of their territory. They were directly descended from their Chief, *Shamhradhan in the 11th Century AD who was himself descended from *Eochaidh - Eochy O Rourke - Ruairc in the 8th Century AD whose name was given to Co. Cavan. Ancestor *87.Brion.

Governey - Origins unknown as yet - May be French Huguenot - Gouvernet ?  Originally they were in Co. Laois in the mid - west of Southern Leinster and later in Co. Carlow in Southern Leinster.

Gow - Gabha - blacksmith - Smith is a synonym used for Gow, which see, in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster and in the north of Co. Meath in the east of Northern Leinster. See also Mac Gowan.

O Gowan or Smith - Irish - Ui Gabhann - A Clerical Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in the Ui Briuin kingdom of Breifne in Co. Leitrim in Northern Connacht & Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster. Now mostly found in the north - east in the Heremonian Dal Cuinn 3 Colla kingdom of Orghialla - Oriel in Co. Armagh & Co. Down in south - east of the Ulster Province.  Not connected to Mac Gowan. Ancestor *87.Brion.

Mac Gowan or Smith - Irish - Mheic an Ghabhann - Gabha - (Descended from a son of the smith) A Sept - Family branch - who were Chiefs in their territory in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster. Many there changed to Smith.

Mac Gowan or Smith - Irish - Originally Mheic Dubhain - Now changed to Mheic Ghabhann. A Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province.

Mac Gowan - A Sept - Family branch - who had their territory in Co. Donegal & Co. Down in the Ulster Province.
