                                                                           O Goonan - O Gormly

O Goonan or O Goonane - Irish / Ua Gamhnain. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster. Some also changed their name to O Gooney and O Gunning.

O Goonery - Irish / Ua Gamhnaire / calf keeper - gamhain / calf. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster where it has been also changed to Montgomery.

Gooney. See - Goonan.

Mac Goorty. See - Mac Gourkey.

Gordon. Scottish origins. They were in the Ulster Province.

Gordon. A synonym used for Magournahan, which see -  Irish / Mag Mhuirneachchain, who are also known as Mac Gourneson in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province.

Gore - gor / a strip of land. English locative origins. "Landed Gentry" from the 17th Century AD, who were in Co. Mayo and Co. Sligo in the west of the Connacht Province and Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province.

Gore - Booth. They were at Lissadell on the north shore of Drumcliff Bay near the town of Carney in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province. Eva was devoted to Womens’ Sufferage and the exploited textile workers in Manchester in England, while her sister Constance went to Paris were she met and married Count Casimie de Markiewicz who were both painters. On returning to Ireland, Constance worked with James Larkin in the labor lockout in 1913, and assisted in the food kitchens to feed the struggling families in Dublin. She then joined the Irish Citizen Army and participated in the 1913 Easter Uprising for Irish Independence. First woman ever elected to the Westminster Parliament and became a Catholic.

Gorevan. Used as a variant for Garvin, which see, with the other variants Goravan and Gooravan used in Co. Sligo and Co. Mayo in the west of the Connacht Province.

Gorham. Norman English origins. They were in Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province.

Mac Gorigal. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province.

Mac Gorman - Irish / Mheic Gormain / blue. A Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Ui Bairrche Sept / Family branch, whose original territory was at Slievemargy in the south - east of Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster, adjoining Co. Carlow where they were Chiefs also. They were dispossessed of their territory by the Anglo - Norman English Prestons and driven down into Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province and also up into Co. Monaghan in Southern Ulster where the Mac was retained. In Co. Clare they became the Chiefs of Tullichrin / parts of the Baronies of Moyarta and Ibrackan. The O was widely substituted incorrectly for the original Mac especially in Co. Clare in the north - west of Munster, but the Mac was mainly retained in Co. Monaghan.They were also nearby in Co. Fermanagh in the south - west of the Ulster Province. Gorman. They were in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster and some members of the O Gormally Sept, which see, used this name also.

O Gormican or O Gormagan. Used as variants for Mac Cormacan, which see.

O Gormley or O Gormally / Irish Ua Gormghaile. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Roscommon and Co. Mayo in Mid - Connacht.

O Gormley or O Gormally - Irish / Ua Gairmleadhaigh. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Cineal Moen Sept / Family branch, who had their territory at Raphoe in Co. Donegal in the north - east of the Ulster Province and nearby in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster, where they were Chiefs, and where it has also been changed to O Gorman and O Grimes.
