O Dernin -

O Derrane. See - O Dirrane.

Derrick. Dutch origins. As an English name, sometimes also used as a variant for Derrig, which see.

O Derrig - Irish / Ua Deirg - dearg / red. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Ui Fiachrach Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. Ancestors - *87.Fiachra the original 2nd King of Connacht (Ui Fiachrach), *86.Eochy "Mugmedon" the 124th High King of Tara / Ireland.

O Derry - Irish / Ua Doirighe. An Erenagh Sept / Family branch, who had their territory at Raphoe in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province. Often confused with O Deery.

O Dervan or O Derwin - Irish / Ua Dearbhain - Doirbheain - Doirbhin - dearbh / certain. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Roscommon in the east of Connacht Province and the surrounding region.

Desmond - Irish / Ua Deasmhumhnaigh (of Southern Munster.) A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the west of Co. Cork in Desmond / Des Mhumhain /  Southern Munster, and migrated to the east of there.

Desmond. A junior branch of the Geradini Fitz Geralds, which see, who were at Tralee / Traig - li (Shore or strand of the River Lee), which was their main seat. Their Castle was in the town with some ruins still left, as it was dismantled in the 19th Century AD. 10 Anglo - Irish Earls of Desmond, are buried beneath the houses there. John was the 14th Earl, who was a lay brother in the Convent at Tralee, while James was the 15th Earl.

O Devally. Used as a variant for O Devilly, which see. They were in the south of Co. Galway in Southern Connacht.

O Devane. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla da Crioch Cenel Rochada Fernmag (Fer Fermaighe / Farney)Sept / Family branch, of the Maguires, which see, who were Kings in Co. Fermanagh in the south - west of the Ulster Province, where they were the Chiefs of Tir Kennedy (The Land of Kennedy) in the 15th Century AD. They are now in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster. Especially see - O Devine.

O Devane - Irish / Ui Dubheoin. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla Uais Ui Mheic Uais Breg Sept / Family branch, who had their territory at Upper Kells / Lower Navan in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster. Especially see - O Devine.

Kinsmen to O Kealy / O Queally, Mac Folan / Mac Fallon / Mac Foland / Mac Folane / Mheic Fualain. They had their territory in the Connemara in the west of Co. Galway in the Connacht Province. Ancestors - *79.Conmacc / Conmac (Conmaicne),  *78.Oirbsen "Mor" /  Orsenmar after whom Loch Oirbsen is named, *64.Fergus mac Roich, *63. Devereux or Deveroux or Deveroy / de Evreux / Dearbhrus. Anglo Norman origins. They were in Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster, and also in Co. Monaghan in Southern Ulster.

Deverill or Devery. Synonyms for Devereux, which see, used in Co. Laois and Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster.
