                                                                                  Deering - O Delaney

Deering. English origin. They came from Dering in Kent in the 16th Century AD into Co. Laois in the mid - west of Southern Leinster and accumulated much Irish land also in the surrounding Counties and also held many official positions under the English administration and are now mainly to be found in south - east of Leinster.

O Deery - Irish / Ua Daighre. A notable Ecclesiastical Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province. Not connected to the O Derrys.

O Deevy, or O Devoy, which see - Irish / Ua Dubhuidhe / Duibhidhe. An Irian Laeghis Cenel Crimthainn / Ui Crimthainn Ain Sept / Family branch, of the O Duff / O Duffy / Ui Duibh Kings of Creamhthainn (Maryborough) Kinsmen also to O Hourihan / Ui hIndreadhain who had their territory at Ballyduff in Stradbally in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster. They were one of the "7 Septs of Leix / Co. Laois" who existed in that territory along with the O Dorans, O Dowlings, Mac Evoys, O Kellys and the O Lalors and O Mores after the Anglo - Norman Invasion. Their alliance began after the 3rd Century AD when the ancestors of the Irian O Mores came into Co. Laois from the Ulster Province who were led by *69.*Laoighseach "Cean Mor," a son of *68.Conall "Cearnach" - of the Victories from the Ulster Red Branch Warriors, an associate of Cuchulainn.*Co. Laois is named after *69.Laoighseach "Cean Mor" who assisted 84.Cu "Corb" the initial ancestor of the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Kings of Leinster to drive the men of Munster Province out of what was previously a part of Mogha's Half. They became the sub - Kings there and they held together all through the six ethnic and religious rebellions under Elizabeth 1st until they were finally dispersed and relocated elsewhere as the English tried to extend "The English Pale" around Dublin in Co. Dublin to attack the Irish on the outer frontier. They are now also in Co. Kilkenny in what was previously the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Connla kingdom of Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster.

De Exeter -

Deey. Origin unknown as yet. They were in Co. Dublin in the north - west of Southern Leinster in the 18th Century AD and in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province.

O Deffely. See - O Devilly.

O Degidan - Irish / Ua Duibhgeadain. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the east of Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster. Some may have also changed their name to Dixon.

Deheny. Used as a variant for Doheny, which see.

Deighan. Used as a synonym by some Deegans and Diggins, which see.

Deighan - Irish / Ua Diochon. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn 3 Colla kingdom of Orghialla / Airghialla / Oriel in Southern Ulster and nearby in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster. Changed to Dickson in Co. Antrim in the north - east of the Ulster Province.

Delafield or Delafelde

Delahide or Delahid or Delahoid  or Delahyd or Delahyde. They were in Co. Dublin and Co. Kildare in Southern Leinster.

O Delahunt or O Delahunty - Irish / Ua Dulchaointigh - dulchaointeach / plaintive / satirist. A Heberian Cianachta Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the Cianachta kingdom of Eile O Carroll (Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province and nearby in Co. Offaly and Co. Kilkenny in the west of Southern Leinster.) Descended from *85.Cian the direct ancestor of the aristocratic Cianachta Septs throughout Ireland including the Luigni in the Connacht Province, the Gailenga also in Connacht, the Cerdraige of the Corca Mruadh in the north - west of Co. Clare in the north - west of Munster. The Corco Fir Thri in Co. Sligo in the north - west of Connacht, the Ui bhFhailge O Carrolls of Eile in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of Munster, the O Reardons in the east of Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster. The O Haras and O Garas of Co. Sligo in the north - west of Connacht and the Cianachta at Keenaught in the north - east of the Ulster Province. *85.Cian was a brother to 85.Eoghan "Mor" the direct ancestor of all of the Eoghanachta Septs and to 85.Cormac "Cass" the direct ancestor of the Dal gCais Septs in Munster. There are several variants including O Dulanty. Ancestors - *86.Teague / Tadhg, *85.Cian (Cianacht), *84.Ailill "Oluimm" the 1st King of Munster.

Delahyde. Anglo - Norman origins. They  have been in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster since the 13th Century AD. See also Hyde and Skinnion.

Delaine -

Delamer / de la Mare. French Norman origins. They were in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster. Their main branch became known as Mac Herbert, which see.

Delamore -

Delane - Irish / Ua Dallain - dall / blind. Also some used Delaney, which see. See also - Dallon.

O Delaney - Irish / Ua Dubhshlaine / black defiance. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster from where they were cleared out of Cloneagh twice by the English who were always endeavouring to expand "The English Pale" around Dublin in Co. Dublin to attack the Irish further out on the frontier. Known as O Delane, which see, in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. They were also in Co. Kerry in the south - west of Desmond / Des Mhumhain / Southern Munster and were Chiefs in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster. The aristocratic Heberian Cianachta O Carrolls of Ely were the over - kings of the O Delaneys whose territory was in the southern part known as Dal Leagh Nui (The District of the Flat Country) Also see 0 O Doolady.
