O Connor or O Conner or O Connors or O Conor - Irish / Ua Conchobair / lover of hounds. There were (6) Septs / Family branches, in Co. Clare and Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province, Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province, Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster, Co. Galway, Co. Roscommon and Co. Sligo in the Connacht Province. They were Kings in Co. Roscommon in the east of Connacht and Co. Mayo in the mid - west of Connacht, Chiefs and Princes in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht, Kings in Co. Derry in the north - east of Ulster and Princes in Co. Kildare in Central Southern Leinster. O Connors has been also changed back to O Connor.

O Connor - Irish / Ua Conchobair of Magh Iotha. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Sept / Family branch, directly descended from *89.Fergus / Fearghus one of the 5 sons of *88.Eogan the 1st King of Aileach  (Cenel nEogain), one of the 8 sons of 87.Niall of the Nine Hostages the 126th King of Tara / Ireland Ui Niall), *37.Heremon (Heremonians).

O Connor "Kerry" - Irish / Ua Conchobair. An Irian Clan na Rory Corca Baiscinn Sept / Family branch (Descended from the ancient Irian Kings of Ulster.) Although the Irians initial territory was in the north - east of the Ulster Province, as a separate Sept they became the Chiefs of Fear Arda, and the Kings of Corcomroe in their territory in the west of Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Northern Munster where their ancient fortress still exists. They were kinsmen also to the O Loughlins who were the Chiefs of the Burren in the east of Corcomroe there and also kinsmen to the O Baskins, O Donnells, O Keelys and O Mulcoras the Chiefs of the Corca Baiscinn Sept descended from Baiscin descended from *62.Rory "Mor" the 86th King of Tara / Erinn  (Clann Rory), *37.Ir (Irians).

O Connor "Faly"- Irish / Ua Conchobair. A Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Ui bhFailghe / O Faley) Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster, who were descended from *91.Ros "Failge" one of the 9 sons of *90.Caher / Cathair "Mor" the 109th King of Tara / Ireland. Their main fortress was at Daingean in what is now the Barony of Lower Philipstown and they were also in the south - east and the Lower River Shannon area. In early times 6 other Tuaths had formed an alliance with them and they all became known as the Ui Failghe / O Faly / Offaly Tuatha / Family region, which was led by the O Connor Ui Failghe Kings. This was nevertheless, a sub - kingdom of Southern Leinster, under the respective Cu Corb Ui Dunlainge and Ui Cheinnselaig Kings of Leinster and also their territory only took in about a third of the actual region that is Co. Offaly today. Ancestors - *91.Ros "Failge" (Ui bhFailghe),*90. O Connor "Don"- of Brown Complexion - Irish / Ua Conchobair. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Ui Muiredaig Sept / Family branch, who were directly descended from *97.Murray / Muiredach "Muillethan" a descendant of *87.Brion the original 1st King of Connacht the direct ancestor of all of the Ui Briuin Septs. Four of the Ui Briuin main Chiefs under the O Connor "Don" were O Mulrennan (Descended from a devotee of St. Brendan) and Chief of the Clan Connor, O Finaghty (Hair as White as Snow), O Flanagan - of Red or Ruddy Complexion, and Mac Geraghty (Descended from a son of a Member of the Assembly / Oenach.) Others were O Kelly the Stewards, O Malley in charge of naval activities, Mac Dermots who were their Lord Marshalls, and the O Mulcronys who were their chief poets and scribes. The O Mulcronys were to be involved in the compilation of the "The Annals of the 4 Masters / Ulster" comprising 7 Volumes of Irish History and the Celtic Families genealogical descent from 2242 BC to 1626 AD. *87.Brion should have been the King of Tara / Ireland in his own right, but was passed over and instead later became the ancestor of the Ui Briuin Ai O Connor Kings of Connacht and Ireland. Their next Sept formed was the Siol Muireadhaig / Sil Murray, which also took in their O Connor kinsmen the Mac Dermots of Moylurg in the north of Connacht. *103.Conor the 38th King of Connacht's descendants were to form their own Family Tuath also who were known as the O Connors (Ui Conchobair.) 112.Rory O Connor from this Sept was to be the 56th King of Connacht and the last Gaelic Milesian 175th King of Ireland after the Anglo - Norman English Invasion in the 12th Century AD and was to die in 1188 AD. Three miles to the south - east of  Rath Croghan / Cruachan in Connacht is Carnfree their Sacred Inauguration Mound, which is 8’ high and 40’ around in circumference, where the O Connor Kings faced north before all of the O Connor Septs. During their Inauguration the White Wand of Kingship was handed over to him only after he pledged to uphold the Irish Brehon Law. 112.Cathal "Crovdearg" - of the Wine Red Hand the 58th King of Connacht, who was 112.Rory’s half - brother, founded the Ballintober Abbey in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of Connacht and their seat still exists in Castlerea / An Caislean Riabhach in Co. Roscommon. Later they formed into (2) further Septs, who are known as O Connor "Roe" - of Red Complexion in Co. Roscommon, and O Connor "Sligo" who were Kings in Co. Sligo. Desmond O Connor the "The O Connor Don" was the lineal descendent of the O Connor Kings who had a house at Clonalis in Co. Roscommon were he was a Jesuit priest. Ancestors - *103. Connor (Ui Conchobair),the 38th King of Connacht , *102.Teague / Tadhg "Mor," *101.Muirgius the 31st King of Connacht, *100.Tommaltach, *99.Murgal,  *98.Indrechtach the 21st King of Connacht, *97.Murray / Muireadach (Siol Muiredaig) the 18th King of Connacht, *96.Fergus / Muirgius, *95.Reilly / Ragallach (Ui Briuin Ai), the 12th King of Connacht  *87.Brion  the original 1st King of Connacht (Ui Briuin).

O Connor. A Heberian Cianacht Sept / Family branch, who had their territory and were the Chiefs of Cianacht / Keenaught in Co. Derry in the north - west of the Ulster Province, Ancestors - *87.Connla, *86.Teague / Tadhg mac Cian, *85,Cian (Cianachta), *84.Ailill "Oluimm" the 1st King of Munster.

O Connor. A Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla da Crioch Sept / Family branch. Ancestors - *85.Murray / Muiredach "Colla da Crioch" / "Focrith"- of the Two Countries, *84.Eochy / Echu "Doimhlen," *83.Cairbre "Liffeachair" the 116th King of Tara / Ireland.

Mac Connor - Irish / Mheic Conchobair (Descended from a son of Conor.) A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the Ulster Province. Changed also to Mac Naugher, Mac Nocher, Mac Noher, etc, which see, and also used erroneously by English "officials" for O Connor.
