PARSLEY:
Cultivation: One
of the first plants to appear in Spring and flowers and seeds in its second year
and is a Biennial plant with a thick taproot and a rosette of tightly curled,
serrated Aromatic Leaves
on long petioles in
the first season. The stalks bear umbrella - like clusters of small yellow - white flowers and green - brown seeds in the second Summer. Plant the Seed in
the Spring or Autumn in humus rich, well drained soil in full Sun
or semi - shade and also self sows easily. Remove the Flowers to promote
Leaf growth and pick the Leaves and dry quickly
throughout the year and collect the Root in Autumn from 2 year - old plants.
(Curled 20 - 30cm high, Italian 40 - 50cm high, Hamburg 50 - 6-cm high.)
Requires well drained rich soil with the moisture retained and sow the seeds
direct in short rows in Spring, Summer or early Autumn in rows 20cm apart and
thin the seedlings to 5 - 7cm apart. The seeds usually take 3 - 4 weeks to
germinate so keep the soil there damp and when established use Nitrogen
fertilizers or Liquid feeds to promote
leafy growth. Chop the Leaves and young Leaf Stalks
to flavour Fish,
mashed Potatoes, Mornays,
Omelettes, Pastas, Poultry, Salads, scrambled Eggs,
Soups and Vegetable dishes. Use fresh Sprays
as a garnish and can be mixed with Chervil, Chives
and Tarragon and the
Fresh Roots of Hamburg can be grated into Salads or cooked as a
Vegetable. Product:
the whole herb above the ground, Leaves, Oil, Root
and Seed.
Used for Culinary
flavouring and can be chopped onto Fish. Scrub:

Tablespoons of fresh Parsley, chopped,
50gm, Almond Meal, 50gm Fuller's Earth,
150ml
water, Infuse the Parsley in boiling
water for 30 minutes, cool, strain and mix the liquid with the Almond
Meal and Fuller's Earth to form a Paste. Apply the mixture to
damp Skin with light, circular movements and
rinse the Skin thoroughly and pat dry with a
soft towel. Tea: Pour 1 x cup of
boiling
water onto 1 - 2 teaspoons of Leaves or Root
and Infuse for 5 - 10 minutes in a closed container. Dosage: 1 cup 3 x
times a day. Tincture: Take 2 - 4ml 3 x times a day. PARSLEY
