MARSH MALLOW ROOT / Althea officinalis / Europe. * One of the most beneficial herbs. Actions: Demulcent & Emollient properties are used in Cough Medicines and it is a Mild Diuretic. Product: Leaves & Roots - Emollient & Healing. Cultivation: A strong growing herb with a pronounced affinity for watery places. Externally: used as an ingredient in Cleansers, Lotions & Soaps as it is specific for fine Skin with insufficient surface Oils. Tea / Syrup: used Internally. Used to Treat: Amenorrhoea: as it contains 4 % Betaine, a Phytoestrogen & Emmenagogue also found in Beets, Carrots, Chard, Chicory, Oats, Oranges & Yarrow. Use with Yarrow as a Tea or steamed Beets, Carrots & Chard as a Vegetable dish.
