FEVERFEW / Featherfew / Pyrethrum / Chrysanthemum parthenium -  Tanacetum p. / Matricaria p. / Asteraceae / Wild Plant - Europe. Only this species ensures the highest concentration of active herbal Alkaloids. N.B: Do not use if Pregnant or Breast Feeding. N.B: It is not a Pain - relieving herb and will therefore not assist once the Head - Ache has begun. N.B: Handling plants can cause Dermatitis in anyone sensitive to its Chemical composition. Main Use: To promote Menstruation, prevent Arthritis, Head - Ache, Fever, Migraine & Tension and to allow restful Sleep. Actions: Anti - Inflammatory, Aperient without Griping, Digestive Stimulant, Relaxant, Uterine Stimulant & Vasodilator.  Constituents: Sesquiterpene Lactones, Pyrethrin, Tannins & Volatile Oil.

    Cultivation: An easy to grow, small grey Perennial herb with hairy stems with white yellow centred flowers in a clump with a wide tolerance of soils with good drainage and likes full Sun and regular watering in Summertime, evergreen in Winter and Frost - hardy. Products: the Leaves, Flowers & Stems are used, but it is the Leaves mostly, picked whenever required. Sow the Seeds in Spring & Autumn, or use the cuttings and divide in Spring. Quality depends on optimum harvest time and the part of the herb picked. Before budding it should be derived from the Leaf to retain maximum potency, which has an extremely Bitter taste, which can be overcome by taking in Capsule form. Capsules - Tablets: Fresh: 1 fresh Leaf 1-3 times a day or either Frozen or Freeze Dried. Tea: Pour 1cup boiling water over 1 - 2 teaspoons of dried / or 1 of the fresh Leaves or Flowers and Infuse for 10 minutes and drink 1/2 cup / 200ml every hour when Migraines start or 1 cup every morning to prevent them occurring. Dosage: 50mg each morning. Self seeds but can also be grown from Cuttings, Seeds or Root division and after flowering cut back the tall flowering stalks

    Used to Treat: Allergies: Amenorrhoea: Arthritis: Useful in the inflammatory stage. Childbirth: Also used after Labour to hasten Cleansing & Toning of the Womb. Colds:  Fever: Head - Ache: Useful for Head disorders relieved by heat. Hives: as an Ointment or Tincture due to its Mild Anti - Histamine effect. Hysteria: Insect Bites: as an Ointment or Tincture due to its Mild Anti - Histamine effect. Insecticide: Alternative to Pyrethrum spraying as a strong Tea direct. Insomnia: Menstruation: Assists with sluggish Menstrual Flow & Congestive Dysmenorrhoea. Migraine: combine 2 parts of this herb with 1 part Fenugreek and 1 part Thyme and divide into equal parts and put in "00" Capsules and take 2 Capsules 3 times a day with meals to prevent. Or eat 3 - 5 fresh Leaves between slices of Bread every day or chew one fresh Leaf a day as it slowly reduces the smooth Muscle Spasms that are concerned with this Condition. Moth Repellent: Nervous Conditions: Skin - Rashes: as an Ointment or Tincture due to its Mild Anti - Histamine effect. Tinnitus: as it is useful for Head disorders relieved by heat. Vertigo: as it is useful for Head disorders relieved by heat.

FIGWORT / Throatwort / Scrophularia nodosa - Scrophulariaceae. Europe. N.B: Do not use if there is Tachycardia or a rapid Pulse. Actions: Alterative, Anodyne, Cardiac Stimulant, Diuretic & Mild Laxative for general Heart Weakness to assist to clean the Bowels to prevent Toxins forming and being absorbed from there. As an Anodyne to ease pain. Cultivation: A medium sized Herb, that is easy to grow. Products: the Leaves & Stem are used, the whole herb above the ground, and collect in Summer while Flowering. Infusion: 1 to 3 teaspoons of fresh herb per cup. Tincture: 2 to 4ml a day. 

    Used to Treat: Abscesses: as a Poultice to cleanse and heal. Dermatitis: Eczema: Pain: as an Anodyne when applied. Psoriasis: Skin - Eruptions: as a Poultice to cleanse and heal. Skin - Irritations: Skin - Ulcers: as a Poultice to cleanse and heal.

Cultivation: A small herb distinguished by triple slender leaves below flower clusters. Product: the Leaves are used.

FOXGLOVE  / Purple Foxglove (Poisonous) Digitalis purpurea. N.B: This herb is cumulative and can be poisonous in large amounts and should only be taken with specialist prescription. Products: the Leaves & Stem are used, the whole herb above the ground and collect the Leaves & Flowers during Summer when in Flower. Increases Toxin loss by cleansing the Blood, Bowels & Urine. Combines with Burdock, Cleavers & Figwort. Infusion: 1 to 2 teaspoons of the dried herb and infuse for 10 to 15 minutes and drink 3 times a day. Tincture: 1 to 2ml x 3 times a day. Used to Treat: Acne: Conjunctivitis: Externally: Used as an Eye - Wash. Eczema: Psoriasis: Skin - Eruptions: used as an Infusion. Skin Conditions: Specific.
