& Deodorant and can also be used as a Dental
Gargle, Mouth Wash & Rinse. Peanuts: are
less likely to cause cavities then pretzels, and
pretzels are less likely to cause cavities then dried
Fruit, Potato chips, Saltines, Crackers, Fruit Chocolate and anything

Golden Rod & Sage Tea. Pyorrhoea:
Echinacea, Cleavers & Vitamin
C. Internally: Use Echinacea. Horses:
A normal Horse chews laterally
- Sideways with the Lower
Jaw - Mandible. If the action is more
up and down than Laterally there may be something obstructing this normal
movement. This can be sharp points or a physical
blockage such as a high Tooth
point, incorrect Molar Table Angles,
Molar hooks
and / or ramps. There may also be
abnormalities occurring with the Incisors -
Front Teeth - restricting the Lateral
movement. Bit pressure can also cause reactions
to these abnormalities
& posture changes
result also creating a lack of Muscle Symmetry. Jaw:
The main closing Muscle is the Jowl
Muscle / Masseter - and the Temporal
Muscles at the top of the Forehead,
which should be equal on both sides of the Head.
When unequal this could mean that one side is
being used more then the other pointing to Teeth problems
and resulting in the Horse being out of balance,
as the Head determines the balance
of the Horse. Balancing -
Incisors - Front Teeth: Occasionally the Wolf
Teeth need pulling in Young Horses if crowded, possibly due to
Calcium &
Magnesium Imbalances when they where
young. Molars - Back Teeth - Grinders.
These become ragged & sharp causing pain
when the Horse is eating or has a bit in its Mouth. Temporomandibular
Joint - TMJ: A Fulcrum controlled by a group of Muscles
relying on the correct positioning of the Molars
& Incisors.
Longissimus
Dorsi Muscle is the largest single Muscle in the
Horse's Body and is structurally segmented
with its Fibers contacting and sequentially
undulating in their movement up and down. This action relies on the Head
and a telescoping Neck to balance.
Signs: Dribbling,
Chucking of the Head,
cannot be held, cocks the Jaw
and just goes. N.B: Should be
inspected at 6 months to ensure everything is O.K.
and from 2 years on all Horses Teeth should be checked
every 6 months. TENDINITIS:
Also see Bursitis. - Herbs: Ginger, Echinacea, Ginger, Horsetail, Liquorice, Pineapple,
Purslane, Stinging Nettle, Turmeric & Willow.
TENDON
/ LIGAMENTS:
Horses:
Externally: Daily massage with raw
Linseed Oil to retention
the Ligaments & Tendons once the Inflammation
has subsided. Add Comfrey
Oil to heal but
use sparingly as some will blister using
Oils constantly, if so stop for a few days and
restart every 2nd day. Internal Herbs:
Comfrey, Devil's Claw together with boiled
Linseeds & White French Millet in the
feed along with detoxifying &
Circulatory herbs. If Infection
is present in a Sheath replace Comfrey
with Anti - Septic &
Blood cleansing herbs. TENNIS ELBOW:
see
Bursitis. TENSE MUSCLES:
Due to Anxiety causing raised
Shoulders or contracted
Back Muscles results in spasm
or bad postural habits with a stiff
Neck and aching
Back and also prevents adequate Blood
Flow to the Head creating tension
Head aches. Another
cause is also spending a long time in the same position. Move frequently to
release the Muscles and rotate your Head
or stand up and stretch and take regular breaks. Massaging
the Neck and Shoulders
with a relaxing Oil can assist. Fill a
jar with Lavender Heads and cover with clear Vegetable
Oil and steep on a window sill for a month and shake the jar every day,
strain and put in a bottle. Massage into the Neck or
Back or add to bath water to keep the Skin soft
to encourage relaxation. Also can be made from Marjoram
or Rosemary. Dilute concentrated Essential
Oil before using on the Skin
and add 2 drops of Oil to 4 teaspoons of Grape
Seed or Almond Oil. Herbs:
Cramp Bark, Lavender, Marjoram & Rosemary. TENSION:
Herbs:
Hypericum, TETANUS /
Lockjaw: Horses: Caused by Clostridium
Tetanae Bacillus. * Immunize when
young and give a booster yearly but this is
still no guarantee the Tetanus will not develop
if a wound is deep &
airless and the efficacy of the immunization is by then questionable. N.B: The wound needs to
Bleed freely. Symptoms:
Tap the Horse under the Chin and the Eyes
will roll back and eventually the Jaw will
also lock / Lock Jaw. Treatment:
Disinfect and dress and give 1 x Dessertspoon
of Vitamin C
in the feed twice a day or 20cc by Injection daily for 14 days after the
Injury. Otherwise give 50cc of
Vitamin C Intravenously
in the Muscle and repeat every 2 hours until
improvement. Keep quiet as sudden noise may cause Convulsions.
N.B: Tetanus normally takes 10
- 12 days to develop but can take longer. THREAD
WORMS: Symptoms: A constant Itching of the

infection of the Throat especially in weak
Children. Externally: Use Tea Tree Oil,
Calendula Tea, Ointment or Yoghurt
on a tampon. Horses:
This is an accumulation of black, foul smelling, moist
material in the clefts of the Frog. Prevention:
Keep the Hooves well picked out and
do not allow Horses to stand in a dirty, moist
environment. Treatment: Put in a clean
dry bed, pick out and brush
the Hooves twice
a day, and apply Eucalyptus
Oil once a day as it is anti
- Septic & anti
- Fungal. If left the Condition will
continue to progress into the Sensitive Tissues
and cause lameness and further
Infection. N.B: Do not put Eucalyptus
Oil on the Skin, as it will burn. TINEA
/ see Athlete’s Foot &
Ringworm. TINNITUS / also see Vertigo. Symptoms: Chronic ringing, roaring or
whoosing sound in
the Ears. Cause:

and certain kinds of Hearing Loss
- Sensorineural especially as you Age. N.B:

of wax. Avoid Starchy
& Sweet foods. Increase intake of raw
foods & whole Grains
with a low Cholesterol, low refined Carbohydrate
diet. Essential Omega 3 & 6 3 Fatty Acids
are important to increase Red
Cell deformability and to reduce Blood
viscosity to improve Blood flow to the affected
areas. Check Drug
intake as even Aspirin can cause
this Condition. Herbs:
Black Cohosh Tincture: can be used on its own or with Ginkgo
for Tinnitus. Betony:
