STOMACH
– Conditions - Herbs: Basil, Chives, Dill, Peppermint, Thyme,

assists to prevent accumulation of harmful
Bacteria, as they are beneficial due to
being mildly anti - Biotic.
Dill:
with Dill Water by steeping 1 teaspoon of bruised
Seeds in a teapot with 2 cups of hot
water and strain the mixture, cool and give to a Baby with a teaspoon
before and after feeds. Peppermint Tea: assists
to keep the Digestion on an even keel and
prevents Colic & Flatulence.
Thyme: Use
for Pain.

Horses: Similar
to Chicken - Pox in Humans and when young Horses
are Infected, they become Immune.
Intensely Infectious in Horses not

Give 20 cc of Vitamin
C by Injection or 2 x Tablespoons in the feed until cleared up. (Usually
1 x Injection is all that is needed.) STRESS

Horses - N.B: Stringhalt is a different
condition to a Locked Patella.
Symptoms:
Exaggerated Flexion of one or both Hind
Legs, which are drawn suddenly up after each step at the walk even to the
front of the Fetlock hitting the Belly.
Milder Cases: Noticed on backing
the Horse, changing the ground level on which they are travelling, during Cold
Weather or if excited. Despite this
impediment they can still gallop unimpeded but cannot
Trot properly. Cause:
Digesting Toxins
from weeds creating a
Magnesium /
and or Copper deficiency
in the Long Nerves in the Body
often due to grazing Capeweed & Catsear
/ Flatweed - False Dandelion - Hypocheris radicans. N.B:
There is a need to be able to differentiate this
weed from that of the Medicinal Herb,
Dandelion / Taraxacum officinale - and balance
the Minerals in the paddock to prevent the
growth of this weed. Treatment:
Sometimes clears up if put in a clean paddock, remove from the
pasture, give Rescue Remedy, feed plain
food / Meadow Hay - and add 1 x
Tablespoon of Magnesite
a day to the diet for a week. Then change to a normal High
Grade Dolomite
(Mudgee) in the feed or 1 x handful in
10 litres of drinking water. N.B: Allow the
Horse to exercise - do
not confine. If a Single
Leg Condition, it is necessary to give 3 x
Tablespoons of Dolomite daily until cleared up
for a 450kg Horse. 1/3 for Minis. Use Nervine &
Detoxification
Herbs immediately along with Bach Flower
Essences to suite, especially Mugwort &
Valerian to repair the Nerve Signals. Stringhalt
can also result in partial Paralysis of
the Voice Box making the Horse a roarer.
If left untreated they will also be afflicted with
Muscle wastage.
STROKE -
Ischemic & Haemorrhagic : Symptoms:
Auditory hallucinations,
fear with no apparent reason & giddiness. Apoplexy
- A severe Brain condition with sudden
unconsciousness & loss of Conscious
Muscular action followed by strangled Breathing
and a slowing Pulse -
similar to Alcoholic drunkenness.
Ischemic Strokes: are often preceded by mini
- Strokes - Transient Ischemic attacks
/ TIA - that can last anywhere from a few seconds to several hours
and create symptoms that eventually resolve on their own with a full or almost
full recovery. Be aware that they indicate a real risk of future
catastrophic Stroke if preventive treatment is
not taken.
Causes:
Ischemic: 80% of Strokes
are Ischemic were a Blood
clot lodges in a Brain
Artery, cutting off the supply of Oxygen
and nourishment to part of that essential Organ and
the area around it dies or is damaged and the Body
function controlled by that area becomes impaired.
Often causes death or severe disability such as
loss of the ability to speak or Paralysis of part
of the Body. Haemorrhagic:
The other 20% of Strokes are Haemorrhagic
were a Cerebral Blood Vessel bursts and impairment
of the part of the Body that the
damaged area controls. N.B: Treatment: With Ischemic
Strokes there is a need to prevent Arterial
Blood clots by thinning the Blood
but this then increases the risk that any
subsequent bleeding in the Brain won't stop
and this can increase the risk of Haemorrhagic Stroke.
A major risk factor is High
Blood Pressure or personal or Family
history of Haemorrhagic Stroke or Aneurysm
- dilated Blood Vessel. To assist to prevent
take Sage Tea & Swedish Bitters, Compresses
to the Kidneys.
Herbs to
suite Ischemic Stroke: (N.B: Do not use these herbs
to prevent Haemorrhagic Stroke -
See your Doctor to see which Stroke
category you fall into first.) Bilberry:
closely related to Blueberries &
Huckleberries that all contain the compounds, Anthocyanidins
that assist to prevent Blood clots
and also break down Plaque deposits lining
the Arteries and Bilberries
may also assist to maintain Capillaries. Carrot:
used to reduce the risk of Stroke as they are
rich in Beta - Carotene and other Carotenoids
all from the Vitamin A Family as are Fruit
& Vegetables rich in Beta - Carotene &
Vitamins C & E. Include in Vegetable
Soups & Juice them sometimes with Garlic.
English Pea: nearly all Legumes
contain Genistein that appears to be a Cancer
- preventive nutrient such as Tofu,
a Soy product that has been seen to have an
effect on preventing Breast Cancer.
Besides this Genistein seems to have an Anti
- Clotting effect and may assist to prevent Ischemic
Stroke & Heart attack.
Evening Primrose Oil:
is rich in Gamma - Linolenic Acid / GLA
- that has potent anti Clotting & Blood Pressure - lowering actions. Borage
Oil is also rich in GLA - follow package directions when using. Garlic:
To prevent Ischemic
Stroke it is the best Anti - Clotting herb as it
contains more Anti - Coagulant compounds than
any other herb / 9.
It is a major herb for Heart
Attack prevention
because of its Blood thinning
effect and its ability to assist to control High Blood
Pressure the same effects that assist to prevent
Ischemic Stroke. Can be taken in Capsules or use
in cooking and can be used also with its close relatives with similar benefits, Chives,
Leeks, Onions, Scallions & Shallots. Ginger: had Anti - Clotting
actions - use in Cooking or Ginger Tea. Tea:
1 - 2 teaspoons of fresh grated Root per cup of boiling
water and steep until cool. Ginkgo
Extract: used to treat complications of Stroke,
including Memory & Balance
problems, Vertigo and
disturbed Thought processes
as it increases the Blood flow to the Brain
and reduces fragility of the Capillaries, the
tiny Blood Vessels that fan throughout the Body,
which can assist to prevent Haemorrhagic Stroke. Dosage:
60 - 240gm a day. N.B: Do not take any higher
doses as in large amounts it can cause Diarrhoea,
Irritability & Restlessness. Pigweed:
and other foods containing Calcium - an
excellent source of Calcium 5.3% on a dry
weight basis as 1/3 of an ounce of fresh Pigweed Leaves
provide 500mg of Calcium with 1000mg required
daily. Can use the young Leaves in Salads or steam
the more mature Leaves like Spinach
or try using as a Pesto using Pigweed instead of
Basil. Other herbs also
high in Calcium in order of potency are Lamb's
Quarters, Stinging Nettle, Broad Beans,
Watercress, Liquorice, Marjoram, Savory, Red Clover Shoots, Thyme, Chinese
Cabbage / Bok Choy, Basil, Celery Seed, Dandelion & Purslane. Pineapple:
contains a compound, Bromelain, that breaks
down Proteins and also has an Anti
- Clotting action that may also assist with Ischemic
Stroke & Heart Attack.
Scurfy Pea:
contain more Genistein then Soybeans.
Spinach: and other foods containing Folate
- that can assist to prevent Heart
Disease & Stroke
by reducing the narrowing of the Carotid
Artery that leads to the Brain. Other
plants with Folate are Spinach,
Cabbage, Endive, Asparagus, Parsley, Okra, & Pigweed. Thyme: as
an Oil by packing a bottle loosely with the
Flowering herb and cover in Olive Oil and
leave standing in the Sun or in a warm
position for 2 weeks. Turmeric:
contains Curcumin that assists to
prevent the formation of Blood Clots.
Eat Curry dishes or use Turmeric Capsules using Gelatin
Capsules available at Health Stores. Willow
Bark: is a herbal Aspirin
and as such low - dose Aspirin
reduces the Ischemic
Stroke by about 18% and Heart Attack
risk by 40% in Men and 25% in Women. Teas made
from Willow Bark, Meadowsweet or Wintergreen
is the best herbal way to go. Tea:
1-2 teaspoons of any of these dried herbs
to either a herbal Tea or cold Lemonade
and drink 2 - 3 cups a day. N.B: Aspirin
like herbs should only be used to prevent and treat Ischemic
Stroke as they are powerfully anti - Coagulant
and may increase the risk of Haemorrhage including
Haemorrhagic Stroke.
Also avoid if allergic to Aspirin.
Attack: Take Oat
Straw, Thyme & Yarrow Sitz Baths. Paralysed
Areas: use Comfrey Compresses, rub
on Hypericum Tincture, Shepherd's
Purse, Thyme & Yarrow. Afterwards massage
with Hypericum or Thyme
Oils. Internally: Equal parts Lavender,
Lemon Balm, Hypericum, Rosemary & Sage.
SUNBURN & SUNSTROKE: Apply Aloe Vera Gel to the painful area when required or Cold Tea & Tomato to relieve the pain. Use Sun protector Cream or make up a Lotion with 100gm Glycerine, 12ml Olive Oil, 50ml Aloe Vera Juice, 12ml Wheatgerm Oil, 12 drops of Calendular Oil & 75ml Rosewater. Eat plenty of Vitamin A (Carrot Juice) Vitamin E (Wheatgerm) and take 1 dessertspoon Apricot Kernel Oil each day before Summer. Partial protection to moisturise the Skin with 2 parts Apple Cider Vinegar & 1 part Olive Oil. Herbs: Aloe: the inner Gel speeds up the healing of radiation induced burns applied straight after showering and reapply a few times each day until the pain has subsided and the redness will disappear in a day or two and the Skin will not peel. Black Nightshade: crush the Leaves and stir into heavy Cream and pat the mixture onto the Sunburn. Calendula Flowers: speed up healing of burns by closing the wounds, reducing inflammation and stimulating the growth of new Skin Cells. Cucumber: used to soothe burns by slicing open and wiping directly on the Skin. Eggplant: related to Black Nightshade as both are from the Nightshade Family. When mashed it is applied to the Skin to treat Sunburn as it contains compounds that are also used to treat Skin Cancers. Plantain: used to treat Sunburn, Stings, Poison Ivy & Poison Oak as it contains Allantoin a compound that heals injured Skin Cells. Tea: Black used cooled on the Skin to soothe Sunburn as it contains Tannin Acid & Theobromine to remove heat and Catechins to prevent and repair Skin damage. Green contains Polyphenols to protect the Skin when ingested from the ultraviolet radiation that causes Sunburn. Vitamins & Minerals: Vitamin E - Tocopherol is the nutrient used mostly for Anti - Sunburn treatment and a Cream containing it soothes Sunburned Skin. 1 - Selenomethionine a natural Amino Acid reduces Skin damage due to Sunburn and Brazil Nuts are rich in this. Witch Hazel: can be applied straight from the bottle in a Compress or try 1 teaspoon of the herb combined with 1 teaspoon of Honey and a beaten Egg white or mix 1 tablespoon each of the herb, Olive Oil & Glycerin. Sunburn: Apply Cucumber Slices, Apple Cider Vinegar or Yoghurt, Aloe Vera Gel, Hypericum Oil or Witch Hazel. Sunstroke: Place a cold Compress to the Head, Nape of the Neck, Chest & Back or sponge down with cool or tepid water. Take only water for 24 hours. N.B: Do not use Sun - screens that contain chemicals that can be absorbed through the Skin into the Blood & Lymph streams. SWOLLEN GLANDS:

Aloe Gel: is used to treat Swelling
caused by water retention externally and Aloe Juice is used internally, or the interior of the split Leaf
is applied directly to Bruises & Swollen
areas. It contains the compound, Bradykininase that
assists to decrease Swelling, and relieve pain
and Magnesium Lactate, an anti
- Histamine to relieve Itching. Arnica
- Mountain Daisy: used Externally
to treat the Swelling caused by Sports injuries
and Arnica lowers the Swelling
applied externally and is used to treat Water
retention, Bruises, Dislocations, Sprains
& Rheumatic Muscle
& Joint
complaints. 2 teaspoons of the dried herb
per cup of boiling water
to make a Wash or dilute a Tincture, 1 part Tincture and 3 - 10 parts
water to use as a Compress. Cat's Claw - Uno de Gato
Extract: contains Quinovic &
Glycosides that have anti - Inflammatory
activity. Corn Silk:
used to treat Swelling caused by Kidney
Disease. 2 ounces of dry Corn
Silk twice a day as it is an effective Diuretic
for getting rid of excess water.
Dandelion:
a potent Diuretic to remove excess
Fluid that causes Swelling. You can eat
the fresh Roots, Leaves & Flowers or make a Tea
from them or take Capsules. Ginger:
is used especially for that caused by Arthritis as
the Proteolytic Enzymes in it assist
to digest Protein, and it also has anti
- Inflammatory action. The compound Zingibain it
contains is one of the most potent Proteolytic
Enzymes there is in Nature. Multifora
Rose: used to treat Swelling.
Tea: 2 -3 teaspoons of the dried
herb per up of boiling water.
Pineapple:
contains the Proteolytic Enzyme, Bromelain
that reduces Swelling as it blocks the production
of Kinins the compounds produced during inflammation
that increases Swelling and induces pain.

Needles: related to Feverfew used for many
illnesses from Influenza to Hepatitis
as it has a significant Anti - Oedemic &
Anti - Inflammatory activity. Turmeric:
2 parts Turmeric and 1 part Salt
is applied to the Swollen areas and some Ginger

Cause: The inner
surfaces of a Joint are
lined by a fine Membrane,
the Synovial
Membrane and Inflammation of this is Synovitis
that may be Acute or Chronic.
Acute occurs with Bacterial
or Viral Infection of the Joints
after injuries or Conditions such as Haemophilia
in which Haemorrhage into Joints.
