MACULAR
-
Degeneration - Cause:
Evidence points toward Cell damage caused by
highly reactive Oxygen Molecules -
Free Radicals - that play a role in this Eye
Condition to the Macula,
which is the central and most sensitive portion of the Retina,
the Nerve rich area in the back of the Eye
necessary for Sight. Symptoms:
After the age of 60 years of age the Macula
begins to break down for unknown reasons and as it degenerates, central Vision
and fine detail perception also deteriorate. Anti - Oxidants neutralise
the Free Radicals and prevent them from doing
harm while the Peripheral Vision remains
unaffected. Herbs:
Bilberry: related to Blackberry,
Blueberry, Cranberry, Huckleberry, Grape, Plum & Wild Cherry are all
used for Visual acuity as they contain Anthocyanosides,
potent Anti - Oxidants
that also strengthen the Capillaries in the Retina,
which assists to slow down Macular Degeneration.
Also used previously a Mouth Wash.
Tea:
Bilberry, Butcher's Broom, Centella & Ginger.
Use a lot of Bilberries and add any of the other
herbs you have on hand and to taste to suite and steep in boiling water for 15
minutes and drink a cup up to 4 times a day.
Clove Oil:
is a powerful Anti - Oxidant to assist in
preventing the breakdown in the Retina of Docosahexaenoic
Acid to preserve Vision in old age. Add
1 - 2 drops of the Oil to Anti - Oxidant Mint
Teas and drink up to 4 cups a day. Collard Greens,
Spinach and other Vegetables:
eating Anti -Oxidant rich Fruit
& Vegetables at least 5 times a week
reduces the risk of Macula Degeneration
by half with Collard Greens & Spinach
especially stand outs as they contain Lutein &
Zeaxanthin. Others with similar compounds Bok
Choy, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Kale, Kohlrabi,
Mustard Greens, Radishes, Turnip Greens & Watercress. Ginkgo Extracts:
maintain good Blood flow to the Retina
and can be mixed with another Anti - Oxidant, Mint
Teas with suggested dose 150mg a day. N.B: in
doses higher then 240mg it may cause Diarrhoea,
Irritability & Restlessness. Peanut:
contains Genistein to prevent Diabetic
Retinopathy while Spanish Peanuts contain
Procyanidins Anti -
Oxidant compounds. Wolf Berry:
used for blurred Vision
and other Sight Conditions
by taking 50gms a day as they are high in Anti
-Oxidants and the beneficial plant pigments Carotenoids.
MASTITIS -
Symptoms: An Inflamed Swelling of the Breast
usually during Breastfeeding. Herbs:
Poke Root.
Horses:
Dolomite in the feed daily of Pregnant
& Lactating Mares should make them
not prone to this Condition. Treatment:
3 x Tablespoons of Dolomite
& Sodium
Ascorbate in the feed daily until it eases. If serious also give
Vitamin C x
25cc either in the Muscle or the Vein.
This will ensure it will clear up quickly and allow the Udder to be scar free or damage
free. Cut the Dolomite back to the normal dose
when all is back to normal. MASTOIDS -
Symptoms: Disease of a Bone behind the Ear
with severe Head Aches
& Loss of sleep. MEASLES
– Apply
wet
sheet treatment at the start of the Fever or apply
wet clothes to the Head sprinkled with Lavender
water or Mint. Sponge
the Body down night & morning with
this Watrer. No solid food

Cohosh Root Extract: used for Female complaints
as it contains Oestrogen substances that
assist to relieve Menopause discomforts,
especially hot flashes. Chaste
Berry: is a normalising herb for Female
Sex Hormones and especially beneficial during Menopausal
changes. As it regulates Hormones involved in
the Menstrual Cycle and increases Luiteinizing
Hormone production and inhibits the release of Follicle
stimulating Hormone. Chinese
Angelica - Dang - Dong Quai: used as a Women's Tonic
to relieve hot flashes and Vaginal
dryness and irritation
as it contains Phytoestrogens that can
occupy the Oestrogen receptor sites.
Evening
Primrose Oil: is used combined with herbs and
Vitamins to treat Hormonal Disorders. Hypericum:
Lime Blossom: Liquorice: contains natural Oestrogenic
compounds including Glycyrrhizin that seems to reduce Oestrogen levels in Women
when they are too high and increase the levels when their too low. Dosage: 5gm /
1/4 ounce a day. N.B: Long term use or
ingestion of larger amounts can produce Head Ache,
Lethargy, Sodium and water retention,
excessive loss of Potassium & High
Blood Pressure.
Motherwort: Oats:
used for Menopausal
Depression & Neurathena as it
stimulates both the Motor & Sensory
Systems, which gives a lift in Mood. Phytoestrogen

Celery Stalks, Dates, Elder, False Unicorn Root, Fennel, Honduran, Sarsaparilla,
Lady's Slipper, Liferoot, Mexican Wild Yams, Passion Flower, Pomegranates &
Sassafras.
Red
Clover: contains 1 - 2.5% Isoflavones and can
be made into a Tea. Sage:
Stinging Nettles: Strawberry: and other foods containing
Boron, which can double Blood levels of
circulating Oestrogen and among these in potency order are Peaches,
Cabbage, Tomatoes, Dandelion, Apples, Asparagus, Figs, Poppy Seeds, Broccoli,
Pears, Cherries, Beetroot, Apricots, Currants, Parsley, Dill & Cumin Seed. Wild
Yam: Alleviating
Hot Sweats: 1 Teaspoon each of dried Motherwort & Sage
in a cup and pour on 2 1/2 cups of boiling water and sweeten with Liquorice.
NB: Do not
use Liquorice if you have High Blood
Pressure.
Hot Flushes
& Night Sweats:
Sage. Irregular
Periods:
Take 10 drops of Chaste
Tree Tincture each morning for 12
weeks. Night Sweats: Dissolve 1 Teaspoon
of Honey
in a cup of hot water and add 2 drops of
Sage Essential Oil and drink before going
to bed then cover up with a dry towel and rest.
Add any remaining Tea to the bath water the following day. NB:
Do not drink Sage Tea continually
but use for 3 weeks and then avoid for at least a
week.
Formula:
Chinese Angelica / Dong Quai: 500mg 3 times a
day, Oats: 1000mg 3 times a day, Vitamin
E 500 IU a day, Vitamin B Complex, Evening

Dysmenorrhoea: Symptoms: Dysmenorrhoea - Painful
Menstruation affects about half of the Female
population with mild to severe Pains - Cramps -
in the Abdomen, Lower Back and in the Legs,
which may be accompanied by heavy or scant
Bleeding. Cause: Anxiety, Constipation,
Endometritis, Lack of Exercise, Hormone Imbalance, or Pelvic
Inflammation. Eat foods high in Fibre to
eliminate Constipation and drink 6 - 8 glasses of
pure water each day. Follow
a normal rounded lifestyle. Hot Foot
baths with a few Sprigs of Thyme in the
water and cover the Legs in water half way up
the Calves and / or use a hot
Compress on the Lower Abdomen. Herbs:
Thyme, Yarrow, Vitamin E. American
Cranesbill: has strong Astringent
properties that can assist with heavy Periods
if there is a lack of exercise.
Beth Root:
Saponins may interact with Female Hormones
and contribute to correcting Hormonal Imbalances.
Blueberry:
acts as a Smooth Muscle relaxant
especially for Painful Periods.
Chinese
Angelica - Dong Quai: contains Phytoestrogens
that compete in the Body with Oestrogen
for binding sites and occupy Oestrogen
receptor sites and this assists with high Oestrogen
levels. Essential Fatty Acids:
found in Fish Oil
& Evening Primrose Oil activate the Prostaglandin
E series to produce Myometrial relaxation.
Iron: may also assist. Magnesium:
may also assist with the Vitamin B group. Vitamin

the Pain and normalises
Periods. Cramps:
Take a Cup of Linseed Tea - 2 Tablespoons to 3
to 4 Litres of boiling water. add a small
amount of Cinnamon and the Juice of 1/2 a Lemon

for 20 minutes. Also use Raspberry Tea. Formula:
1 part Peony Root, 1 part Liquorice,

2 Capsules 3 times a day with meals.
General:
Sitz Bath with
Chamomile & Thyme Infusion. Painful but
not Cramp - like: Use 15 drops of Spirit of
Balm in water, repeat every hour. If
due to Tension: also use Peppermint.
Profuse - Prolonged: Use Cramp
Tea or Calendula, Sage, Shepherd's
Purse, Wormwood & Yarrow. Scanty -
Retarded / None: Use Rosemary

with the Tension, Evening

2 pain - relieving chemicals that have a similar effect to Aspirin
and the Extract is also used as a Relaxant and
for its anti - Anxiety effects and it assists

Leaf Tea: used to treat Menstrual
Cramps as it relaxes the Uterus
and soothes Uterine irritability
associated with Pregnancy. Red
