LAMINITIS
- Horses: Similar
to Founder of the Feet
and occurs for the same reasons. Remove the cause
and treat like Founder with Epsom
Salts followed by
Magnesite or
Dolomite in
the feed. Horses fed Dolomite regularly should
not be affected. Life Threatening
- Inflammation of the Sensitive Laminae
of the Foot, which is extremely painful.
Symptoms: Heat in the Feet, and
the Pulse in the Digital
Arteries is easy to feel as in Abscesses.
Ponies & Miniature Horses especially overweight
are particularly susceptible. The Pedal Bone
can rotate or sink and
penetrate the Sole of
the Foot. Causes:
Excessive work on hard ground, Excessive Weight
bearing on one Leg, Spring or unseasonal
flushes of feed in the pasture, too much grain,
retained Foetal Membranes after Foaling, Stress
& Toxicity. Treatment:
Remove from the pasture, if at fault, and generally administer Rescue
Remedy and drench with Rosehips
Tea at regular intervals. Rosehips are
good for Laminitis, as they are high in
Vitamin C specific for Stress
and exchange between Arterial & Venous
Circulation deep in the Capillary Beds in
the Foot. N.B:
To alleviate the pain quickly have the Vet
give Non - Steroidal
anti - Inflammatory drugs, as it is
important to alleviate the pain & Inflammaton
rapidly. * Then give Herbal treatment to ensure
this as well to improve Circulation, provide
Detoxification and reduce Stress.
Stimulate the Normal
Circulation by alternately using
hot & cold water to Tub the Feet
for 10 minutes at a time 3 times in
succession, twice daily, and add washing
Soda to the water. Keep in a confined
area with light exercise by hand. Feed
only plain meadow hay or good quality straw
or wheaten chaff if
Fat, especially Ponies. N.B:
Once Laminitis has occurred the Horse is a
prime candidate again! Herbs:
Hawthorn, Rue & Nettles
for the Liver,
Devil's Claw as
an Analgesic, anti -
Inflammatory and for
healing. Further Treatment: Keep the Horse on deep
sand / 4" that is wet & Cool and
out of the Sun. LAMPAS

into the Roof
of the Mouth. LARYNGITIS

Herbs:
Cardamon and other Herbs
containing Cineole. Gargle
with Fennel, Marjoram, Plantain, Sage & Thyme. Cardamon:
contains Cineole an Expectorant
to bring relief also in order of potency, Eucalyptus,
Spearmint, Rosemary, Sweet Annie, Ginger, Nutmeg, Lavender, Bee Balm, Peppermint
& Tansy. Tea: use a selection of these herbs and go heavy on
the Ginger and add Pineapple
Juice before drinking. Couch Grass - Quack
Grass: used for Respiratory Conditions including Laryngitis &
Cough. Echinacea - Coneflower: used to relieve
and treat this Condition and enhance
the Immune System. Elecampane:
is an Anti - Septic
Expectorant used to assist with Laryngitis.
Tea: use equal parts of Elecampane,
Horehound & Mullein - 1 teaspoon each per cup of boiling water and
steep for 10 minutes or pour 1 cup of cold water over 1 teaspoon of shredded Elecampane
and steep for 10 hours and drink 3 times a day. Ginger:
try candied Ginger. Horehound: used to
treat Coughs and other Respiratory
Conditions. Tea:
Made from the Leaves & Flower tops 1 -2
teaspoons of the dried herb per cup of boiling water and add Lemon, Liquorice
& Stevia. Add a pinch of Stevia to any tea
bag instead of Artificial Sweetener. Hot
Spicy Foods: used to treat Laryngitis
and other Respiratory Conditions.
Garlic, Ginger Horseradish & Mustard all
assist to relieve Laryngitis especially if there
are thick secretions in the airways. Ivy:
used for Whooping Cough - use a pinch of the
dried Ivy / 0.3gm to relieve
Inflammatory conditions of the Respiratory Tract
including Laryngitis as it has Expectorant
action and assists to minimise Bronchial secretions
that can cause Cough & Throat
irritation. Knotgrass:
Tea: 2 - 3 teaspoons of dried Knotgrass per cup of boiling water to treat sore
Throats & Laryngitis. Mallows: use to
soothe sore Throats and to treat for Laryngitis, Colds,
Coughs, Sore Throat & Bronchitis
as they contain Gelatinous fibre, Mucilage
that soothes Mucous Membranes and assists to
protect from Bacteria & Inflammation. Mullein
Flowers: contain constituents that relieve Laryngitis
symptoms. Tea: 1 - 2 teaspoons of
the dried herb
per cup of boiling water and steep for 10
minutes. Plantain: used to treat sore
Throats, Laryngitis,
Cough & Bronchitis. English Plantain
especially is an effective Anti - Bacterial,
Astringent Throat
soother. Dosage: 1 teaspoon per cup of boiling water and steep until
cool. Poke Root:
Primrose: (N.B: This is not
Evening Primrose) 1 - 2 teaspoons of dried Primrose
Flowers or 1 teaspoon of the dried Roots
as a Respiratory remedy
for Laryngitis, Bronchitis, Colds & Coughs.
Soapwort: contains Saponins
that give pain -
relief and is Anti - Inflammatory and
may assist Laryngitis. Tea:
1 teaspoon of the dried herb
per up of boiling water for treating Respiratory Conditions. Stinging
Nettle: Leaves
& Root Juice used to treat Asthma,
Bronchitis & Hay Fever and the Tea for
Laryngitis. Sundew:
used against a hacking Cough
as it contains a Cough suppressant
compound, Carboxy - Oxy - Napthoquinone to
calm the Muscle spasms
that trigger Coughing and it also contains
Plumbagin, which inhibits
several types of Bacteria that cause Laryngitis.
Thyme: as it is suitable for easing
to clean the Mouth
& Throat as a Gargle then swallow
the liquid to benefit the Digestive System.
(Can be combined with Sage to do this.) Compound
Infusions: Thyme - 2 parts,
Iceland Moss - 4, Dill - 1,
Cassia Bark - 1, Nettles - 4.

Cause: Usually
due to Anxiety or Depression
when the energy is too low or a Hormone
Imbalance. Herbs:
Damiana: stimulates the Nervous
System & Hormonal System as it
contains constituents that convert into Hormones
in the Body. Ginger
& Wild Oats are Stimulating. Vervain:
releases Tension & Stress and was originally
an Aphrodisiac. Tea:
1 Teaspoon of dried Damiana and 1 teaspoon of
dried Vervain in a pot and add 2 1/2 cups of boiling
water, steep for 10 minutes, strain and flavour with Ginger,
Liquorice or Honey and drink 2 cups a
day. Wild Oats: LICE - Cleanse Hair with Tea Tree Shampoo. Comb Hair with a fine tooth comb. Strong Infusion of Walnut Leaves or Parsley rubbed well into the Hair each day until eradicated. Herbs: Insect Repellent Oil, Neem & Turmeric: Both Vermin killers. Paste: pulverize 4 parts Neem Leaves to 1 part Turmeric Root and rub over the Body and allow to dry, and repeat until not required. Parsley: Pyrethrum: Rosemary: Sweet Flag: has Lice killing properties. The Aromatic Root is pounded into powder and used as a Poultice or rubbed directly into the afflicted areas. Tea Tree Oil, Tea of Quassia, Chips & Walnut Leaves. Horses:
Caused by a lack of Sulphur as artificial fertilisers have
inhibited the Sulphur uptake
almost totally from Grain. Treatment:
1 x Tablespoon of Sulphur daily will clear
them up in a week. If badly infected wash first with a Shampoo. Reduce Sulphur
to 1 x Dessertspoon or 1 x Teaspoon daily to keep Lice
free. LIPS
- Cracked - Sore - Redness and Swelling of the Mouth or
Lips / Cheilosis: Inadequate Vitamins

B3. Cracks at the side of the Mouth - Andular
Fissures: Inadequate B

Beeswax onto the Lips

Grains especially Oats, Greens & Turnips. Herbs:
Silica - Alfalfa,
Nettles & Oat Straw. A common Violet Leaf
rubbed onto the Lips gives protection
& relieves cracked Lips
along with Calendula, Chickweed, Comfrey & Lipeze
