Previous Celts who had their territory in the Aileach region in the north of the Ulster Province were the Robogdii Celts who originally had their territory also in Co. Donegal in the west of the Ulster Province along with the Vennicnii who had their main fortress at Malin Head on the peninsula at Inishowen and at Ram’s Head (Horn Head) near Dunfanaghy.

*88.Eogan / Owen was one of the (8) sons of *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages the Gaelic Milesian Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn 126th King of Tara / Ireland in the late 3rd Century AD who was descended from *80.Conn of the Hundred Battles the 110th King of Tara / Ireland (Dal Cuinn - The People of *80.Conn) descended from *37.Heremon (Heremonians). His father,*87.Niall is the direct male line ancestor of the "Southern" and "Northern" Ui Niaill Septs / Family branches in Ireland. In the late 3rd Century AD *88.Eogan was to gain his own territory at Aileach in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province, were there had previously been an ancient Fir Bolg fort there of great importance. Also Nuadha the Scythian Nemedian Tuatha de Danann King who had defeated their own kinsmen the Fir Bolg in battle, and then been in control of Ireland, had also been interred there before the Gaelic Milesians came into Ireland and subjugated them also. Later on *88.Eogan's Sept / Family branch the "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain would also move down into Central Ulster where their territory there would be centered on Co. Tyrone / Tir Eogain (The Land of *88.Eogain.)

*88.Eogan became the "Northern" Ui Niaill 1st King of Aileach in the north - east of the Ulster Province during the 4th Century AD and of his 2 brothers who had also accompanied him into the Ulster Province, 88.Conall "Gulban" became the direct male line ancestor of the other main "Northern" Ui Niaill Ui Conaill Sept in Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell (The Land of 88.Conall) now known as Co. Donegal in the north - west of Ulster. Their other brother 88.Enda / Endae became the direct male line ancestor of the the Ui Endae Sept who had their territory also there in the north - west of Ulster between that of his other 2 brothers and his Septs eventually became absorbed into both of their Septs, *88.Eogan was to have (5) sons who would leave issue; See *88.Eoghan) Among these 5 sons who would carry the direct male line forward to the Mac Lochlainns was;

*89.Murray / Muiredach who became the "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 2nd King of Aileach who was to die in 480 AD as the father of 4 sons of his own;

(1) 90.Mongan of the Long Hair who became the direct male line ancestor of the O Donnelly Sept, O Crodden Sept, O Mulcerby Sept, O Crean Sept and O Gormley Sept (2) 90.Farry / Feradach the father of, 91.Fiachra, the father of 92.Fiachna, the father of 93.Sweeney / Suibhne "Meann / Mend" the direct male line ancestor of the O Gaffreys, and 93. Edalach the male line direct ancestor of the Mac Campbell or Mac Cawells / Mheic Cathmaoil of Co. Tyrone and the O Brollaghans / O Brollachan Sept of Co. Donegal. 93.Suibhne "Mend" would become the Cenel nEogain 10th King of Aileach and the "Northern" Ui Niaill 17th King of Tara / Ireland. When 93.Suibhne "Mend" was to die in 628 AD, this would end his particular male line from *88.Eogan and *89.Murray to the Kingship altogether. (3) 90.Eochy / Eochaidh the Tuneful who was to be the direct male line ancestor of St. Mael "Rubha" who was to live between 642 AD - 722 AD becoming the founder of the Applecross Abbey in Alba / Scottish Highlands whose territory there was to be later held by the Earls of Ross. (4) 90.Maine became the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel Moain / O Gormleys / Ui Gairmleadhaigh and Ui Luinigh. (5) 90.Tierney / Tighernach became the direct male line ancestor of the O Cunigans / O Cunninghams and O Hoseys.

(4) 89.Felim / Feidhlimidh who was to be the direct male line ancestor of the O Dermond / O Diorama / Mac Dermot / Darby / Ui Duibhdhiorma Sept in Co. Derry and Co. Donegal and Criffan / Crimthainn the direct male line ancestor of the O Rorkan / Ui Dubhthaigh.

*90.Murtough / Muirchertach mac Ercae who was to become the "Northern" Ui Niaill 3rd King of Aileach after his father and the direct male line ancestor of the O Loughlins Septs and in the Centuries ahead (5) of the sons of his great - grandfather, *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages would leave Ui Niaill Kings of Tara / Ireland. *90.Murtough mac Ercae was to actually be the first from the Cenel nEogain Sept when he became the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill 6th King of Tara / Ireland in 512 AD - 536 AD after the demise of his second - cousin, 89.Lewy / Lughaidh the previous "Southern" Ui Niaill 5th King of Tara / Ireland. He had been a son of 88.Leary / Laoghaire the previous "Southern" Ui Niaill 128th King of Tara / Ireland who had been a brother to *88.Eogan and another of the (8) sons of *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages the 126th King of Tara / Ireland. *90.Murtough mac Ercae was to eventually come to a sad end when he was burnt to death while he was hopelessly drunk, but he left 3 sons to carry his male line forward to the Kingships;

*91.Donnell / Domhnall “Illchealgach“- the Deceitful, was his first son, who would continue on with their direct male line to the Mac Lochlainn / Mac Laughlin Sept who was to become the joint 4th King of Aileach and the "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain joint 134th King of Tara / Ireland from 563 AD - 566 AD, along with his brother, 91.Fergus / Fearghus who was to die of the Plague leaving no issue to continue his particular male line to the Kingships. Another of the brothers, 91.Baetan / Bagdan was then to become the joint 5th King of Aileach and eventually the "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain joint 136th King of Tara / Ireland along with his nephew, 92.Eochy / Eochaidh who was a son of his previously deceased brother, *91.Donnell "Ilchelgach." Although 91.Baetan was to die in 572 AD he was to be the ancestor of Luchan Dilonhain / Dillon and also leave another son, 92.Colman "Rimid" who became the 7th King of Aileach and the "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 139th King of Tara / Ireland who was to die in 604 AD, which also saw the end his particular male line from *88.Eogan to the Kingships.
