                      *86.Eochy "Mugmedon" the 124th King of Tara / Ireland  - *87.Fiachra the original second King of Connacht - 2

      *87.Fiachra of the Flowing Hair the original second King of Connacht was sent to collect the tribute / borumha on behalf of his half - brother, *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages who was the 126th King of Tara / Ireland, from the Heberian Septs in the Munster Province, but the Heberians in Munster were still upset over the finghal slaying of 89.Criffan / Crimthann the previous Heberian Eoghanacht King of Munster and 125th King of Ireland, and they decided instead to challenge the Connacht Province contingent in battle at Caenraige. Although Maidhi "Meascorach" was able to mortally wound *87.Fiachra during the conflict, the men of Munster and their allies from the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire Muscraige Ernean Sept were thoroughly defeated with great slaughter. The men of Connacht then took 50 hostages from the Munster Septs, along with the tribute / borumha in full, and set off to take them back to *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages at Tara in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster. On reaching Forraidh at Uibb Macc Uais in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster the hostages were able to escape, and they seized the mortally wounded *87.Fiachra and buried him alive. When the men of Connacht found him later on they at first carried out his funeral rights / cluiche cainte, and his name was written down there in Ogham and those hostages who they still had under their control were also then buried alive around his gravesite.

*87.Fiachra of the Flowing Hair the original second King of Connacht (Ui Fiachrach Muaide) and (Ui Fiachrach Aidni) Septs in the Connacht Province who were among the 3 Connachta were to be the most prominent direct male line for the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn Septs in Connacht during the 6th and 7th Century AD. *87.Fiachra had 5 sons and of these;

      *88.Macc Ercae / *88.Earc "Ciul Bhuidhe" - of the Yellow Hair was to become the direct male ancestor of the Fir Chera Sept through his son, *89.Maine "Munbrecc," the father of *90.Ross, the father of 91.Feradach who became the Ui Fiachrach 7th King of Connacht. 91.Feradach's son, *92.Mael "Umai" was to become the father of *93.Mael / Donn "Cothaid" who also became the Ui Fiachrach 10th King of Connacht. He  was to be the last of the Fir Chera male line to inherit the Kingship of Connacht, after he was to die in 602 / 03 AD.

      88.Breasal and 88. Conaire were another 2 of the sons of *87.Fiachra who left no Kings of Connacht.

      *88.Auley / Amhalgaidh another son, was to become the Ui Fiachrach 1st King of Connacht as the 1st Christian King there after receiving religious instructions from St. Patrick personally. His territory was to be known as Tir Amhalgaidh / Tir Auley (The Land of *88.Auley) now the Barony there in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province.

     *88.Nathi another of *87.Fiachra's sons, who is also known as *88.Dathi was to become the more direct male line ancestor of the Ui Fiachrach Muaide and Ui Fiachrach Aidni Septs and was to eventually become the 127th King of Tara / Ireland also after *87.Niall of the Nine Hostages was killed while on an expedition to France. He then became the first of the Ui Fiachrach to be a King of Tara / Ireland and this meant that the Ui Fiachrach direct male line from *87.Fiachra was to continue on through him. One of *88.Nathi's sons, *89.Ailill "Molt" was to become the Ui Fiachrach 3rd King of Connacht and later on he also became the second one from the Ui Fiachrach to be the 129th King of Tara / Ireland, and he was to die in 482 AD. His son, *90.Kelly / Cellach became the father of *91.Eogan "Bel" who was to become the Ui Fiachrach 4th King of Connacht who was to die in 543/7 AD. In turn he became the father of *92.Ailill "Inbanda" the Ui Fiachrach 5th King of Connacht who was to die in 550 AD, which was to end their particular direct male line from *89.Ailill "Molt" to the Kingship.

    *88.Dathi / *88.Nathi's other son, *89.Fiachnae was to be the one who would be the more direct ancestor of the "Northern" Ui Fiachrach Muaide Sept in the north of the Connacht Province as his son *90.Elgach was the father of *91.Maeldub the father of *92.Tipraite who was to produce *93.Dunchad "Muirisci" the future 16th King of Connacht, whose son, *94.Indrechtach would also become the 20th King of Connacht. In turn he became the father of *95.Ailill "Medraige" who would become the 26th King of Connacht who was to die in 764 AD, which also ended his particular male line to the Connacht Kingship. Despite this his son, *96.Cathal was to retain the position as the Ui Fiachrach King. The "Northern" Ui Fiachrach Muaide direct male line was then to continue on from *93.Dunchad "Muirisci" through his other son, *94.Ailill who was the father of another *95.Cathal who produced another *96.Donn "Cothaid" who became the 28th King of Connacht who was to die in 773 AD, which also ended his particular direct male line to the Connacht Kingship and that of the Ui Fiachrach Muaide Sept altogether, although he produced a son *97.Cathmug who was to die in 787 AD.

    The "Northern" Ui Fiachrach Muaide territory took in the present Barony of Tireagh / Tir Fiachrach /(The Land of *87.Fiachra) in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province. Despite this it was also previously much larger then this as it also took in much of the Baronies of Gallen and Tir Auley (The Land of *88.Auley) one of his 3 sons who was the 1st Ui Fiachrach King of Connacht, in Co. Mayo in the west of Connacht. The River Moy itself was to be known previously by many names, first as the Sal Srtotha then as the Moda, the Moadus, the Maudis, the Moyus, the Muidh and finally as the Moy / Muaidh. It begins in the Barony of Leyney in Co. Sligo and runs to the sea through the Barony of Gallen in Co. Mayo, Foxford and Ballina / Ardnaree in the Barony of Tir Auley. This is six miles to the north to the Bay of Killala where the River acts as the boundary for Co. Mayo and Co. Sligo. In 1301 AD O Muldoon / Ua Maol Duin was still to be to be the Tir Fiachrach Muaide King.

    *88.Dathi / *88.Nathi's third son, *89.Eochy / Echu was to be the one who became the more direct male line ancestor of the "Southern" Ui Fiachrach Aidni Sept in the south of the Connacht Province, who also became the father of *90.Eogan, the father of *91.Conall who produced 2 sons, *92.Goibnenn who lived in 538 AD, and *92.Gabran who became the father of *93.Coffey / Cobhthach who produced *94.Colman the 11th King of Connacht who was to leave 2 sons of his own who where to be "Southern" Ui Fiachrach Aidni Kings of Connacht. *95.Laidgnen / Loingsech the 13th King of Connacht died in 655 AD, which ended his particular direct male line also to the Kingship. It was to be his brother *95.Guaire "Aidni" who was to follow him into the Kingship as the 14th King of Connacht who would become one of the most famous early Connacht Kings who also produced 5 sons of interest. One of these sons *96.Murtough / Muirchertach "Nar" was to become the 15th King of Connacht who was to die in 668 AD, which then also ended his particular direct male line to the Kingship. Another son, *96.Artgal was to be the father of *97.Fergal "Aidni" who became the 17th King of Connacht who was to die in 696 AD, which then also ended their Direct male line altogether as the "Southern" Ui Fiachrach Aidni Kings of Connacht. Of his other 3 sons, *96.Kelly / Cellach died in 666 AD, *96.Airmedach in 675 AD, and *96.Conall / Congal in 685 AD who was the father of *97.Ecomras who died in 697 AD. The Kingship of Connacht  was from now on to be completely dominated by the Ui Briuin Septs descending from *87.Fiachra's brother, 87.Brion (Ui Briuin) the original first King of Connacht.

            +On to *86.Eochy "Mugmedon" the 124th King of Tara / Ireland  - *87.Fiachra the original second King of Connacht - 3
