599 AD The Catholic Church by now was well established throughout Ireland and the ties to kinship in all the Tuaths were still very strong and to go abroad and leave one's Family and their Irish land was a great sacrifice. To the Celtic Irish it really meant "exile" but it was this thought of self sacrifice rather then any missionary zeal that drove them on to make what they considered was the ultimate sacrifice to leave Ireland as it was considered worse then death itself. To this end St. Cuthbert also decided to got into exile in England to spread the Christian Gospels from his homeland of Scotia - Ireland.

Many of the Irish Celts had still remained hostile to the inroads of Christianity during the 5th and into the 6th Century AD, especially the druids, poets and lawyers who were all threatened by it. As time was to elapse the fusion of the Gaelic and Latin cultures would firmly continue to lay down the basis of the Celtic Catholic Church.
