Of his two (2) sons, 99.Mael "Cothaig" was to become the grand - father of 101.Ailill who was also to be a King of the Ui Echach Cobo. He in turn became the father of 102.Mael "Breasail" the 26th King of Ulaid - Ulster & King of the Ui Echach Cobo who was to die in 825 AD, which would see the end of his particular male line to the Kingship through 98.Fergus to 90.Crond "Ba Drui". 98.Fergus's other son, 99.Bressal was also to be a King of the Ui Echach Cobo and the ancestor of 104.Aitith the 36th King of Ulster & King of the Ui Echach Cobo who was to die in 898 AD. This also ended his line through 98.Fergus to the Kingships and for the Ui Echach Cobo Sept altogether. (Both Echu & Eochaid were "horse names" used by the Kings of Ulster.) The Ulaid had still continued to rule the territory down to the River Boyne even after the fall of Emain Macha - Armagh. At this time the Luigni and the Gailenga Septs were in Co. Mayo & Co. Sligo - Western Connacht who were all people of Brega in Northern Leinster together with the Saithne from Glasnevin in Co. Dublin - Mid Eastern Leinster to Loch Ramor in Co. Cavan - Southern Ulster where the kingship up until the Anglo Norman Invasions were interchangeable. The subject tribes in Co. Westmeath, Co. Longford & Co. Offaly - North Western Leinster were the Delbna, Corco Roide, Cuircni and others. 551 AD 93.Eochy - Eochaid the 4th King of Ulaid - Ulster & 4th King of the Dal nAraidi died, whose father was 92.Condlae the previous 2nd King of the Dal nAraidi who was a son of 91.Coelub one of the three (3) sons of 90.Crond “Ba Drui” who were to leave the 14 Kings of Ulster. The male line from 91.Coelub of the Dal nAraidi would produce 10 Kings of Ulster down to 104.Aed the 44th King of Ulster & 37th King of the Dal nAraidi who would die in 972 AD. 93.Eochy was to be the father of 94.Bactan the future 5b King of the Dal nAraidi who would be the father of 95.Fiachra "Caech" who would die in 608 AD as the grand - father of 98.Scandal the future 8a King of the Dal nAraidi who was to die in 646 AD. His son, 99.Dungal "Eilni" was to become the 13th King of the Dal nAraidi and the father of 100.Cu “Chuaran” the 18th King of Ulster & 17th King of the Dal nAraidi who would die in 708 AD, which would end his particular male line to the Kingships. 99.Dungal "Eilni's" other son, 100.Ailill was to be the 15th King of the Dal nAraidi who was to die in 690 AD who was to become the father of 101.Cathussach the 20th King of Ulster & 23rd King of the Dal nAraidi who was to die in 749 AD, which was to also end his particular male and those from 95.Fiachra "Caech" altogether to the Kingships. 94.Bactan's other son, 95.Fiachnae "Lurgan" was to be the 9th King of Ulster & 7th King of the Dal nAraidi who was to die in 626 AD and it would be through him that the Dal nAraidi Sept would continue on the Kingships. 553 AD St. Finnian of Moville in Co. Donegal - North West Ulster & Cille Drivne in Co. Sligo - North West Connacht had previously returned from his second journey to Rome with a rare manuscript that was a translation of the Vulgate of St. Jerome. He lent it to 91.St. Columbcille to read but instead he had also copied it down without his permission and St. Finnian also demanded the copy - Carthach back. 91.St. Columbcille would not give it up so they put it to 90.Dermot mac Carroll the Southern Ui Niaill 8th High King of Tara - Ireland who gave the judgement in St. Finnian's favour basing his judgement on the fact that; "A calf belongs to the owner of the cow." 555 AD 91.St. Columbcille who was from the Northern Ui Niall Cenel Conaill Sept was also further upset with 90.Dermot during the Festival held at Tara where all the Tuaths - Families had come together subject to a Truce. 94.Curnan, a son of 93.Aed the Ui Briuin 8th King of Connacht, was to kill another youth breaking the Truce during the Festival and he fled to 91.St. Columbcille for protection. He was then pulled from his hands and executed by the command of 90.Dermot mac Carroll and this created further mixed emotions among the Dal Cuinn Septs. Outraged 91.St. Columbcille then raised the assistance of his Northern Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill kinsmen and the Battle of Cooldrumman - Cul Dreimhne was to occur in Co. Sligo - North West Connacht this year between the various Dal Cuinn Septs. 93.Aed the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin 8th King of Connacht, (94.Curnan's father) was joined by 91.Fergus & 91.Donnell the 2 sons of 90.Murtough mac Ercae the previous Northern Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 6th King of Tara - Ireland. They were also allied with the Northern Ui Niall Cenel Conaill Septs led by the second - cousins, 91.Ainmire & 90.Ninnid against 90.Dermot. 3,000 members of the Dal Cuinn Septs were to perish in the battle that ensued in the territory of the Ui Niaill in the kingdom of Cairpre Droma Cliab below the mountain of Ben Bulben. 90.Diarmait mac Carroll the Southern Ui Niaill 8th High King of Tara - Ireland was to suffer his greatest defeat. In later centuries when Connacht was in the ascendant this northern territory of 88.Cairpre's Southern Ui Niaill kingdom was cut off by the Ui Briuin Breifne Sept from it's southern half in Co. Longford - North West Leinster and it was then claimed by the Ui Briuin in Connacht. By custom it had been an ancient fifth of Connacht with it's border with Ulster at the River Drowes a few miles to the north of Drumcliff. The Kings of 88.Cairpre's kingdom were to move in alongside their northern kin and their kingdom always remained debatable right down to the 16th Century. 555 AD 91.Colman "Mor" the son of 90.Dermot mac Carroll the Southern Ui Niaill King of Meath & 8th King of Tara - Ireland was killed in his chariot by Dubhshlat Ua Treana from the Cruthin Septs. 91.Colman then became the direct ancestor of the Clann Cholmain Kings of Meath & Ireland who would later basically follow on from 90.Dermot to be in solid as the Southern Ui Niaill High Kings of Ireland before the rise of their kinsmen the Northern Ui Niall Cenel nEogain. It still exists in the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin while the Shrine that covered it is still to be seen in the National Museum. This was to be the last time it was held at Tara and he was to have many conflicts with the priests and the monks as he reverted to the old ways.
