1541 AD - 1550 AD 1541 AD June 26th: Sir Anthony St. Ledger the appointed acting English Lord Lieutenant in Ireland for Henry V111 had him also declared the King of Ireland by the Anglo - Irish Parliament instead of the original position of Lordship granted to his predecessors previously by the Pope and he re - instigated the previous penalties under Poyning's Irish Penal Laws against the Irish population and the Anglo - Irish. He began a campaign to reconquer Ireland after he was able to also dupe the Anglo - Irish Parliament into accepting his claim to hand over Ireland to the English Crown. He had agreed to all their grievances, but had no intention of carrying them out, while behind the scene he carefully bribed those among the Lords who were committed "survivors" who are always willing to capitulate. and then dismissed the Anglo - Irish Parliament altogether for another 13 years. In anticipation of his agenda coming to fruition, during the previous 20 years Henry V111 had abolished all the Irish land tenure and had also tried to do away with all traces of the Irish Brehon Law by putting in false claimants on to the Irish land who where then supported with English Militia. The Irish Chief of each Tuath / Family region was either to be expelled from their territory, or forced to yield their Irish land over to the English Crown although it was never in their power to do so under the Brehon Law. If the Irish Sept who actually owned the land refused his illegal bargain, then English Militia were sent in to hang, burn and shoot the "Irish Rebels," while he also used exile as another way to bring about vacant waste land for further English takeover, and push the Irish Septs out of their territories ensuring all the profits from these ongoing takeovers finished up with him. He also gave the Harp of 105.Brian “Boru” the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid U Turlough 170th High King of Ireland, to Mac William - Burke the Earl of Clan Ricarde together with The Book of Kells and had Clonfert monastery in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht burnt down and the 3,000 Franciscan monks who were resident there driven out. Quin Abbey in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province was also suppressed, but the Franciscan monks were to continue to stay in the area for many Centuries to come with John Hogan to be the last one, who when he died was to be buried there in the 19th Century AD. 1542 AD Brian 3rd O Niall "The O Niall" was the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "Northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain King of Tir nEogain / Tyrone in Central Ulster and would be followed in this position by Felim O Niall.
