1481 AD
Gerald
"Mor"
Fitz Gerald
the 8th Anglo
- Irish Earl of Kildare
was officially appointed the English Lord Deputy
in Ireland by
Edward IV
the Norman Plantagenet Yorkist English King,
1482
AD Bishop
Sherwood, died, and Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald the 8th English Earl of Kildare
now dominated the
Anglo - Irish Council again without any opposition.”
1483 AD
Mahon
O Griffey
the Heberian
Dal gCais Bishop of Killaloe in
Co. Clare
in the north - west of the Munster Province,
died, this year and was buried
there in
the Abbey of the Cannon on
Canon Island near the mouth of the
Fergus River.
Gerald
"Mor"
Fitz Gerald the
Anglo - Irish
8th Earl of Kildare
attacked the
Heberian Dalcassians for
supporting a claimant to the
Butler seat of
Ormonde
in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory
in Mogha's Half in
the south - west of Southern Leinster against the
person who he had considered was the legitimate heir who was married
to his sister. He
crossed the River Shannon with
a large army into
the
Heberian Dal gCais
Mac Namara's territory in the east of
Co. Clare were he captured the
Castle at
Bally Cullen and marched on
towards
Conor
"na Shrona"
O Brian's fortress at
Clonroad in
Ennis, but the
Dalcassians were to cut him off at
Quin and also at
Bally Hickey Castle and
defeat, while
Conor "na Shrona"
O Brian
was also to later on capture
Fineen
Mac Namara's
Castle near
Quin.
Gerald
"Mor" Fitz Gerald the English
appointed 8th Earl of
Kildare put an Act through the Anglo - Irish Parliament to allow
the Anglo - Irish Council the power to
personally elect someone of their choice as the English Justiciar in
Ireland to keep or guard the English Lordship of Ireland during a sudden
vacancy in the English appointed Deputyship and he also named those “for life” who were to form those
electors with replacement only by himself. He was married to Alice Fitz Eustace
the daughter of Roland Fitz Eustace their Treasurer, and
another of his sisters, Eleanor was married to
Conn
"Mor" O Niall
"The O Niall"
the
Heremonian
Ui Cobhthaigh
Dal Cuinn "Northern"
Ui Niaill
Cenel
nEogain Chief in the
Ulster Province. Conn's son, Conn "Bacach"
O Niall later
on was to be appointed the English
1st Earl of Tyrone who was to marry his first cousin the Earl of
Kildare's daughter,
Eleanor. Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald's other
sons and daughters were married in to the
O Donnells,
the Mac Carthys,
the
O Carrolls,
the
O Connor
"Offaly," the
O
Kelly, and to Piers Butler who would later on
become the English appointed Earl of Ormonde, the Flemings, the Burkes,
the Darcys and the Plunketts
/ Pluinceid.
Richard 111
was in
this year as the Yorkist King of England and he
was to be
the
last of the Norman Plantagenet Kings and he appointed a new English Chancellor
to oversee Ireland for him.
Meanwhile,
Gerald "Mor" Fitz
Gerald the 8th Earl of Kildare had already appointed
his own brother to the
position and he refused to admit the new English King’s
appointee under the Statute he
had previously put through the Anglo - Irish Parliament and this meant that
Richard
111 was forced to retain the Earl of Kildare in office, and accept his brother as Chancellor.
Although he agreed
with "Gerald "Mor's" decisions when he personally visited him in England, in reality he was only
biding his time to regain the upper hand and
eventually
sent the Bishop of Annaghdown to Ireland to make contact, with any other "English
Rebels and Dissidents,"
which
included
Gerald "Mor's" kinsmen,
Garret Fitz Gerald the Earl of Desmond, as well as
"The O Niall"
who controlled the
Ulster Province to try and get
them on to his side. (Despite these
efforts very shortly the following English King,
Henry V11, the Welsh Tudor usurper,
who was only maternally connected to
the Lancasters, was to get in
eventually, and all of Richard 111's future plans would be lost. (Richard 111 had
gained the throne of England after his brother's
death by declaring his brother's
2 sons illegitimate and it was to be generally believed that he
was to do away with them both after putting them in the Tower of
London, "for safekeeping" which was to win him no friends in England.
1485 June 6th:
Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald the 8th Earl of Kildare had
the Anglo - Irish Parliament confirm the Statute that he believed would keep him in office
in Ireland no matter what happened and in
August: inn England the Battle of Bosworth
occurred and this saw the end of the
last Yorkist, Richard 111 and brought in Henry Tudor
V11, who only had Lancaster blood on his mother's side, to the throne of England who had previously
done a
deal with the English Parliament now controlled by the
merchants there.
Gerald
"Mor" Fitzgerald
the
8th Earl of Kildare
had
basically ruled
Ireland for
England and had been
accepted by the
Yorkists
and had therefore been a Yorkist
supporter and he had even supported attempts against the imposition
of the usurper,
Henry
V11 who had
now seized the throne in England. Despite this,
because of his strong family connections to all of the prominent families in
Ireland,
he was to be still left in charge as the
English appointed Viceroy in
Ireland although the
Butlers
the English
appointed Earls of Ormonde had
been the real supporters of the
Lancasters.

Namara, the son of Philip "Roe"

An
Oxford priest now arrived in Dublin with a 10 year old boy
who he said was the young
Edward, the
English Earl of Warwick and heir - apparent to the Yorkist English throne, who was
now known as Lambert Simnel, who he claimed was
one of the 2 sons of the late Edward 1V
the deceased Yorkist King whose brother, the recently deceased Richard 111
had since been accused of killing in the Tower of
London. He was given protection
by Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald the Earl of Kildare’s brother, who was now the Chancellor in
Ireland, who summoned up
support for
his Yorkist position, although the Earl of Kildare himself was
cautious, but among his other supporters
was Margaret the Duchess of Burgundy, who was a
sister to the late Edward 1V, and other Yorkist
sympathizers.
May 5th: Margaret the Duchess of Burgundy arranged
for Martin Schwary and 2,000 mercenaries to arrive into

/

be eventually also made
up of Anglo - Irish and German mercenaries. May 14th: Edward V
/
Lambert Simnel was
crowned in Christchurch

Archbishop of
Dublin.

Duchess of Burgundy, who was
the late Edward
IV's sister,
and 1,000
of the
German
mercenaries went to England
with Irish
forces and fought a battle against
Henry VII
the Welsh Tudor
English King at
Stoke where
Lord
Lincoln, Sir
Thomas Fitz Gerald the Chancellor, a
German General and 4,000
men were killed and Henry V11 was
victorious. Meanwhile in Ireland
Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald the Anglo - Irish 8th Earl of Kildare
who was the
English appointed Viceroy in Ireland had also summoned the
Anglo - Irish Great Council
in the name of Edward V the newly
crowned boy King.
1488
May 25th: Owing to his
strong family connections in Ireland, Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald
the 8th Earl of Kildare received a pardon from
Henry V11's envoy to Ireland
with
Sir Richard Edgecombe
sent over prior to negotiate terms with the
"Irish Rebels," but in
July: Gerald "Mor" Fitz Gerald the 8th Earl
of Kildare treated Henry V11's envoy with contempt and refused the conditions he demanded
and told him that they would become Irish before they would accept them.
Despite this, eventually
they took the Oath of Allegiance promising
not to support the "Irish Rebels" in the
future and the Earl of Kildare retained the office despite protests from the
English in Waterford in Co. Waterford in the south -
east of the Munster
Province who feared
retaliation for having supported Henry V11 and the Archbishop Octavian of Armagh.
Oliver Cantwell
/ de Cantual (of Kentwell) whose family were originally from England who had
also become "More Irish then the Irish" became the
Bishop of Ossory / Co. Kilkenny
in the south - west of
Southern
Leinster until 1527 AD and later rebuilt the
bridge of Kilkenny, which had been destroyed there during a flood.
1489 AD Gerald
"Mor" Fitz Gerald the 8th Earl of Kildare went to England
in person to see Henry
VII
the King of England
and a party was held there and Henry V11 had the young
Lambert Simnel serve the
Irish nobles as a
waiter and Kildare managed to get on with the new English King.

(Fitz Patrick) who was
the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire
Ui Connla King of Ossory
