                                                                                    1201 AD - 1210 AD

1201 AD William de Burgh / Burke the Anglo - Norman Baron with his men carried out attacks in the territory in the west of Co. Cork in Southern Munster with 111.Donough "Cairbreach" O Brian the Heberian Dal gCais Prince of Thomond and 112.Cathal "Crobderg" / of the Red Wine Hand O Connor from the Ui Briuin Ui Conchobhair Sept who had been previously deposed, who was to re - claim the Kingship of Connacht assisted by the forces of two of the other Anglo - Norman Barons. John de Courcy and Hugh de Lacy.

1201 - 1243  AD 111.Donough "Cairbreach" O Brian, the third son of 110.Donnell "Mor" O Brian, in his capacity as the Prince of Thomond now set up residence at Clonroad in the town of Ennis in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province were he began the building of  the Ennis Abbey, which would be ruined but is being reconstructed today.

John the Anglo - Norman King of England now granted the territory in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province and the Rock of Dunamase in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster, which had originally been the fortress of 113.Dermot Mac Murrough na Gall previously taken over by Strongbow / Richard de Clare, to William de Briouze / Bruce the Terror of the Welsh Marches - who was at this time the most powerful Norman Baron in Wales and also created him the English Earl of Limerick.

1202 AD William de Burgh / Burke the Anglo - Norman Baron invaded the Connacht Province again this year, once again in support of 112.Cathal "Crobderg" O Connor, the illegitimate son of 111.Turlough O Connor the previous 55th King of Connacht, and who was also a half - brother to 112.Rory O Connor the last 176th King of Ireland and 58th King of Connacht. who had died in 1198 AD, against the rightful heir, Cathal O Connor, and installed him personally as the Ui Briuin 58th King of Connacht giving the Anglo - Normans greater control there also.

Hugh de Lacy another of the Anglo - Norman Barons constructed a Castle and walls around Kells / Ceanannus Mor in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster and the Great Connell Priory was also founded at this time for the Augustine Order by the Anglo - Normans at Droichead Nua in Co. Kildare in Central Southern Leinster. -  O Dullany the Irish Catholic Bishop of Ossory, died, and he was interred in Jerpoint Abbey in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster and construction was also begun there on the Cathedral of St. Canice, under Hugh de Rous, the new Anglo - Norman Bishop of Ossory, until 1215 AD.

1204 AD They first stone castle was built in Kilkenny City in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster by William Marshall / le Maraschell the English appointed Earl of Leinster and also the Duiske Abbey, a Cistercian Church, was built near Graiguenamanagh near the 9th Century AD Celtic Crosses of Akylthawn and Ballyogan there in Ossory. William Marshall had married Isabella de Clare the heiress of Richard de Clare / Strongbow and had gained all of his vast estates including the territory in Southern Leinster.

The Anglo - Norman territories previously held in Normandy were now lost by John the Anglo - Norman English King to France and the Norman Barons were driven out and required new lands and Ireland was to provide them, and he made Meiler Fitz Hugh the Anglo - Norman Baron the English Justicar in Ireland who began building the dreaded Dublin Castle / The Devil's 1/2 acre - as John had ordered a large castle to be built in Dublin in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster. Two other Anglo - Norman Barons, John de Gray and Henry de Londres, were also appointed as English Justiciars who were also seeking high office in both Church and State. Meanwhile, John de Courcy was doing his own thing in the east of ther Ulster Province even minting his own coin at Downpatrick and Carrickfergus, with his own name on them calling himself the "Prince of Ulster" while the other Anglo - Norman Barons under the orders of King John were endeavouring to bring him to heel.

Even though England's ethnic and religious oppression of the Irish Septs in Ireland was by now in full swing, from this date onwards 7 of the Heberian Dalcassian Kings of Thomond / Tuaisceart Mhumhain / Northern Munster were still to be crowned at Magh Adhair on the Sacred Mound at Clooney - Quin in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province up until 1552 AD.

William Fitz - Aldhelm de Burgo / Burke, the original Anglo - Norman Baron, died, who is the actual direct ancestor of all of the Burkes in Ireland, who was from Kilsheelan and Clonmel, and who had built the Augustine Abbey at Athassel dedicated to St. Edmund the martyred King of East Anglia, and he was interred there.

The Donnybrook Fair in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster was to be conducted from this date onwards until it too was to be also banned just like all the other things Irish by the oppressive British Conservative Government in power in England in 1855 AD.

1205 AD John the Anglo - Norman English King now made use of Hugh de Lacy to get rid of John de Courcy, when he appointed him the new English Earl of Ulster, but nevertheless the strong willed John de Courcy was to hold out in his Castle of Rath Dundrum in the east of the Ulster Province until he was eventually taken captive.

112.Cathal "Crobderg" O Connor the Ui Briuin 58th King of Connacht installed by the recently deceased Anglo - Norman Baron, William de Burgo received an English Charter from John the Anglo - Norman English King to hang onto the territory of the Ui Conchobair Sept in the Connacht Province.

Thomastown in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster was founded by Thomas Fitz Anthony another of the Anglo - Norman Barons.

William the Marshall the Anglo - Norman Baron, who was the the second son of John Fitz Gilbert the prior Marshal to Henry 1st had held vast lands in Normandy and had since been appointed the English Earl of Leinster by marrying Strongbow's daughter and he built the Cistercian Abbey at Craiguena - Managh / Duiske on the River Barrow in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster, which at 212' long was to be the longest Cistercian church in Ireland. He had not visited or resided in Ireland for 17 years but John the English King had made him the English Earl of Pembroke also there in Southern Leinster following on from Strongbow / Richard de Clare and he began driving off the Irish Septs there to grow corn on their land and this led to all the Norman Barons wanting the same type of deal from King John. They now all began to give him further trouble, including William Marshall who had previously also given his allegiance to the King of France to hold onto his lands there in Normandy, and also to John the English King, but refused to join King John in attacking the King of France.

John the Anglo - Norman King of England had not only created Hugh de Lacy the English Earl of Ulster and given him the territory in the Ulster Province but also granted the territory in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster to his brother Walter de Lacy.

At this time, Thomas Fitz Gerald the infant son of Maurice Fitz Gerald the Anglo - Norman - Welsh - Italian Baron was rescued from  the fire that occurred in their Castle by their pet ape and thereafter the Fitz Geralds were to carry the image of the ape on their family crest in his honour.

1206 AD William Marshall finally fell out with John the English King and he was to go to Ireland were he was to remain until 1212 AD and where he was to be harried by Meiler Fitz Hugh, John's personally appointed English Justiciar in Ireland. By this year the Anglo - Norman Barons had nearly secured all of the Irish territories in the Munster Province and built a castle in the centre of Ireland at Athlone on the River Shannon in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster. Meanwhile, Simon de Rochfort the Anglo - Norman Bishop after leaving Clonard to set up at Trim in Co. Meath founded the Cathedral of St. Peter & St. Paul there where there is a tomb containing the remains of the original English families who came into Ireland, the Dillons, the Bothes and the Barnewalls.

John the King of England who was now at loggerheads with most of the Anglo - Norman Barons had Meiler Fitz Hugh attack William de Briouze / Bruce who he had previously appointed the English Earl of Limerick and William Marshall the English appointed Earl of Leinster, but with their combined forces he was defeated. He then had Martin Fitz Henry raid the Irish territory in Southern Leinster and also the territory in Co. Limerick in the mid - north west of the Munster Province to break their personal control there mainly because John had demanded Walter de Briouze's 2 sons as hostages. The reason for this particular onslaught was that de Briouze's wife in desperation had also mentioned that John had personally killed his own nephew, Arthur of Brittany the rightful heir to the English throne, and he was to eventually seek his revenge by starving both her and her son to death in prison while William de Briouze was able to escape his clutches and abscond to France. Walter de Lacy who was King John's English appointed Earl in Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster was also William de Briouze's brother - in - law and this was to have further repercussions for all concerned.

This year Cahir Abbey was founded for the Augustinians Cannons Regular at Caher in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province were there also is the Motte of Knock Graffan, which may have been an ancient Crowning place originally for the Kings of Munster.

1207 AD William Marshall / Le Mareschal the first English appointed Earl of Pembroke in Ireland, was to visit Ireland to see his lands and began silver and lead mining at the Cistercian Tintern Abbey at Clonmines in Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster while John the King of England was to grant him a Charter to set up the town of Kilkenny in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory. Later on after William Marshall's death Southern Leinster was to be divided up between his 5 daughters, with Kilkenny going by English Law to Gilbert de Clare who would then be the English Earl of Gloucester and would eventually also pass into the hands of the English Spencers.

1208 AD William Marshall and Walter de Lacy the Anglo - Norman Barons were also forced by King John to accept new charters that cut back their franchises in Ireland, as both were also involved with Philip the King of France while still trying also to hold onto their territories there. William de Briouze who was formerly a companion of John the King of England and was now persona non grata had by now returned to Ireland where he was given asylum by William Marshall and also went to see Walter de Lacy, his son - in - law, in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster and was promised further help by Hugh de Lacy, his son - in law's brother, who was now set up in the Ulster Province. King John had previously granted William Marshall a charter to try and attract English Planters into Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster and now replaced Meiler Fitz Hugh as his English Justicar in Ireland, with John de Gray, and William Marshall was to continue to stay in Ireland to keep out of his way. Further construction was now carried out on the dreaded Dublin Castle until 1220 AD, which would become known to the Irish as the the Devils 1/2 acre due to its use as the means of continual ethnic and religious oppression for 714 years by the English Dublin Castle Corporation authority right up until 1922 AD. They would then be finally driven out of 26 of the Counties, by the Irish themselves, from the whole number of 32 Counties that made up the whole of Ireland, which was to see them hang onto 6 of the Counties to pacify their Ascendancy egos and continue to create death and mayhem for the remaining Irish who were to continue to hold on there in their ancestral territory. Their eventual total imposition of economic and religious Conservative Ascendancy repression on the whole of the population in Ireland before this occurred under their Immoral Union was to be the last straw.

This year O Moran slew Auliffe / Amhlaibh O Rothlain the Chief of the Caruidhe Cuile Cearnadha Sept.

1209 AD Hugh Rufus of Bodmin was appointed the new English Bishop of Ossory in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster.

Another Anglo - Norman Castle was built at Mullingar / Country of the Water - in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster on Loch Lene, 8 miles north - east near the Co. Meath border where the area was assigned to the Anglo - Norman Tuites / de Tiuit who were Barons under the command of Walter de Lacy.

A massacre was carried out by the Irish Septs in their territory at Ranelagh in Co. Dublin in the north - east Southern Leinster against the Confiscation of the land and the imposition of English Planters.

1210 AD June 20th:  John the English King landed in Ireland at Waterford on the coast of Co. Waterford in the south - east of the Munster Province with a large army and stayed 9 weeks taking over the region in Co. Meath and the Ulster Province under their control forcing William de Briouze, Walter and Hugh de Lacy to flee from Ireland while William Marshal was reconciled with him and accompanied him on the campaign and because of their combined force more important Irish Kings were also submitted. 112.Cathal "Crobderg" O Connor and others had joined in with the English Forces on their march to Carrickfergus Castle in the Ulster Province and the whole region previously under the control of the Anglo - Norman Barons in Ireland was now under his control with English Earldoms in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province, Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster, and the east of the Ulster Province being forfeited while Southern Leinster remained under the control of William Marshall and Kilkenny City was officially made part of Southern Leinster under English rule. John the English King had previously sent an army led by John de Gray, his new Justicar, in Ireland to displace Walter de Lacy in Co. Meath because he was harbouring Matilda de Briouze / Bruce. Walter's brother Hugh de Lacy who was the English Earl in Ulster had taken her to Scotland with him when he fled into exile. King John himself had originally attacked Hugh de Lacy and other Anglo - Norman Barons when he landed in Ireland with his large army and had forced them to submit and 112.Cathal "Crobderg" O Connor the Ui Briuin 58th King of Connacht had also been arrested during the siege of Carrickfergus in the Ulster Province. King John now installed himself as the new English Earl in Ulster & Meath and stayed overnight at Carrickfergus were he gave vast tracts of land in Co. Antrim to Alan of Galloway and Duncan of Carrick and expelled Richard de Dundonenald from Dun Donald in Co. Down in the south - east of Ulster.

111.Donough "Cairbreach" O Brian the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Ui mBriain Prince of Thomond was installed as the English Earl of Thomond in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province when he acknowledged John the English King as supreme in Ireland and he then allowed the English to build 2 Castles in the Dal gCais territory with one of these at Roscrea in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of Munster, and the other at Killaloe in Co. Clare, which was previously the ancestral home of the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Septs for hundreds of years.

John the English King now had further Anglo - Norman Castles constructed in Down, Coleraine and Carrickfergus in the east of the Ulster Province and nearby at Carlingford in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster and also had the Thomond Bridge built across the River Shannon at Limerick in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province, adjoining Co. Clare. He also built another Castle there and also strengthened Limerick City against the Irish Septs there and had previously taken the Lax Weir off of the Bishop of Limerick and granted it to William de Briouze  / de Braosa / Bruce. He held a Council in Dublin in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster and attempted to introduce English Laws and English Culture into Ireland and wanted the English in Ireland to form a government there. He split up the old Heberian Eoghanacht kingdom of Des Mhumhain - Desmond - Southern Munster the territory of the Mac Carthy's who were the Chaisil Princes there and the provisional Kings of Cashel - Munster who were at this time once again subject to the Heberian Dal gCais O Brians / Ui mBriain and made part of it into Co. Kerry in the south - west of the Munster Province.

The Anglo - Norman - English by now had a real stranglehold on the majority of the Country with the Fitz Geralds / Ghearardini now in control of Kildare in Central Southern Leinster and the eastern - side of the Munster Province. with the de Burghos / Burkes in the Connacht Province and the Butlers / le Buitleir in control of the west of Munster. Although William de Burgo / Burke had previously been granted the right to take over the Connacht Province by force by King John, he had then handed it over to his son, Richard / Ricarde de Burgo the direct ancestor of the Clan Ricarde in Ireland and had gone off instead to seek the greener pastures of the rich country in the Golden Vale at Athassel in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province, which runs right through to the Rock of Cashel the previous seat of the Heberian Cashel - Munster Kings where he had set up the Barony of Clan William.

At this time the Scottish Norman Clan of Bruce / de Broiuze still had connections in the Co. Derry area in the north - east of the Ulster Province and another Anglo - Norman castle was also built at Athlone in Co. Wexford in the south - west of Southern Leinster and Thomas Fitz Anthony who was still the English Seneschal in Southern Leinster also built an Augustine Friary there at Inis Tioge in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west. By now the Anglo - Norman Barons in England were on the rampage and causing more problems for John the King of England, which forced him to return to England.
